Thanks! I basically only enjoy the build itself and he only times I have shot them were to prove to spudfiles members they actually work. The noise turns me off as I don't want to bother my neighbours. Hate basically any noise. Never had the interest of joining a club or whatever. I build them, test them,then I disassemble them or, if they turn out well enough they are allowed to gather dust tucked away far away from my kids. It's the technical part combined with art that interests me. That is why they end up looking like that. The fact they make a hole in a piece of board just verifies I was right with the design. I'm a very peaceful man don't worry..  Well..I'm done hijacking this thread! Hope you enjoyed it. you guys got some cool stuff on this forum. You'll hear from me again once I finally start my steamengine project. |

Just in case anyone is interested Toys"R"US in the UK have loads of NERF BreakBarrel's in at £14.99, which is a good £6.00 cheaper than normal.
They at least look decent painted without any additional Modifications.

Trying to use the sight whilst waggling the gun in one hand may be a tad tricky  P.S. I just though "What does that dial control as it's a revolver?" Maybe you could encase the drum in cardboard/plasticard so that it looks more like a fuel tank. Mock up a couple of spare tanks for quick recharge and rig up a holster and ammo belt

A reverse on a revolver makes sense to me, you could have different rounds loaded and then be able to 'steer' to the round you wish to use.
And I like a sight on a handgun, it makes it more sinister looking.

If there was a jam in a Gatling gun the method of clearing it was to reverse the turn of the handle, thus reverse in a revolver (automatically loaded via a hopper or clip of some sort) could theoretically serve a very important function. Attach some sort of automatic loading device and it becomes very convincing. Maduncle's idea also has some weight. A few props such as shells with different markings would suffice to sell the illusion. |

All very good ideas gents, I appreciate the feedback. I especially like the different cartridges idea, which could make for a nice visual which could be enhanced further by an accompanying cartridge belt. Now I'm brainstorming types of rounds to load the Gentleman with, but the trick is that I want to give them Gentlemanly names. Here is what I have so far:
Demency: Magnum slug
Cogitation : Less lethal round
Langrange: Shot
Punctilio: Higher grade slug for accuracy
I'll rig up a replacement dial face with reverse (for the reasons mentioned above) along with the round types, along with half and full steam. Now to figure out an auto loading mechanism (also a grand idea).
Seeing as how spring break is officially started I seem to have a project for the next week
