A Collective Thread for All Them Guns Pt. II

Hey-
  Very Inspriring guns.   I finally decided to jump in and build a steampunk gun.  I make lots of things, but never worked with brass much.  So a Iearned a bunch of new skills and had a good time doing it.  Here's what I came up with:

It's built from candle holders and lamp parts.  There are LEDs behind marble finials (I was really pleased with how the light reflects from all the bubbles in the glass) and in the sight.

Now I'm trying to decide what to do next with all the leftover parts.

Thanks for showing!  It's a rare treat to see one built from found objects that has the uniform finish and symmetry that suggests a production model weapon so believably.  Good show!

  As for the few questions, no I didn't take any in process pictures.  I wish I had now, but at the time I started it was just a bunch of junk that I wasn't sure was going to amount to anything.  I will next time.

  Between the grips is just a 1/4 in piece of basswood.  I traced the grips, cut it out, then stained it as dark as I could in an attempt to match the stripes in the grips.  There are a couple filler pieces of basswood at the top behind the trigger guard where it mates with the main body of the gun.

   It was a fun project, and I most likely will make another gun with the parts I have left over.  With pics this time.

@ Swayback - excellent work. I just wish I had decent workshop facilities to be able to pull somehting like that off ....

@ 1111art - nice piece too. Half the challenge with such projects is finding a toy gun that will not look like one when you have finished modding it. Nice paint finish too.

Any way, these are some sorta steampunkish Nerf guns I painted. All were done with acrylics, and handpainted.

Maverick, dry brushed copper and red in, with a red and black base coat.
Name: "Mercy"



Nerf Nitefinder's, Red, black and copper paintjob.
Name: "Demon twin pistols" or "Copperhead 1&2"

Here's a gun I've just recently finished. It's not so much Steampunked by itself, but I made it as an accessory to a post-apocalyptic Steampunk outfit. This is my first attempt at modding a toy gun.
