Just finished this one. Six shot cap and ball pistol, standard side arm for air ship crewmen.
Sweet - love the lower chamber fire mechanism! Makes for easy loading and you could actually hold the fore-grip without risking your fingers - bonus! The Chiappa Rhino is my fav modern revolver and works on that principle. |

I have decided to keep the grip, trigger and side plates - but the barrel will be all my own invention.  If I get time to work on it tomorrow night, I may have it ready in time for the steampunk exhibition 'steamscape' opening in Melbourne this Friday evening. |

I'm proud to present the Danielsson Dissuader. It's actually still a WIP, but it was a big hit at Anachrocon this past weekend. So, I thought I would share.  It's actually much more interesting in action, so I created a kinetoscope recording: http://youtu.be/GDxpOEN2d5gI hope you enjoy. The gun is built around a 1905 Millers Falls Breast Drill. Lighting effects come from a sound-activated plasma disk and bicycle valve motion-activated LEDs. I still have a bike dynamo to hook up to it for another light, but it is working pretty well already. |

Oh I like the dissuader - a great concept using a lovely old device. I got a couple of hours more tinker time tonight, so I managed to carve out of the flint lock stock the timber that needed removing so I could mount the ray gun barrel.  Barrel held in place with two brass screws countersunk up through the wood from under the barrel. I also managed to work out how the spring and trigger went back in so the hammer still operates. All built in time to have on my person Friday night, I will add some more iconic steampunk doo dads to it as I find them, such as a scope and a vacuum tube mounted on an angle off the top of the handle. |

Just finished this today. It's a discreet little pocket ray gun for the self defense of a lady or gentleman. The box with charger. The charger has a plasma plate in it that lights up when the leads are hooked to the gun.  |

I got a big pile of candlesticks and other brassy/woody/gear-ey items collecting dust so I think I will make myself a couple guns, considering the fact that apparently every other person owns one.... off to the lab! (basement)

Final touches to the flintlock ray gun.    I added a scope to the top, using parts from an old brass gas mantle, and I added a brass decorative finial off the back of the square brass block at the rear of the barrel. And yes, that is a brass gear wheel behind the muzzle, it is there for calibration of the weapons aim. The holster is an old horse 'thing' I have had for years, I clipped a carry strap from an old linesman's bag to it and added a leather strap to keep the gun in the holster. This is my new favourite gun, I like the patina of the old brass, wood and leather together. I think I shall keep this one for me. |

I think I shall keep this one for me. I can't say that I blame you. I am pondering the slight modification of the hammer and the placement of something appropriate for it to strike. But then - I am also pondering attaching a small vacuum tube to a piece of threaded brass so it may attach to the rear of the scope as required. |

Maduncle - Really like the aged look of the piece. I'm not much for the bright shiny weapons. Much prefer ones like yours that look like they have been well used for many years.

agreed - looks great Maduncle!! Well, in comparison what I'm offering today aint much but I thought I'd add it anyway. We have a fruit-fly infestation at work - in a TV studio would you believe - and as a protest/joke one of our presenters brought in a box of the fly-guns her neighbor imports...  I thought I'd give mine a quick mod to add some class - I gave it a few quick coats of black plus a sealant - carved a couple of balsa wood grips with my trusty pocket knife - added some brass tacks - and for about 15 minutes work we have a much more stylish means of dispatching those bloody flies!!  |
