Another addition to my brass arsenal.

Do you call it  a 'Brassenal' for short?

Nice work!

Cheesy

That term is reserved for for a collection of ladies upper undergarments.

Gran'mama used to call her long vest a "Guncase", because it covered her arsenal.

So I had this idea for a pair of Nerf Reflex's and have run into two problems with aging: Firstly, whether I should bother aging them at all and secondly how to age them. I have made prior attempts to age my Maverick but...well, frankly, it looks horrible. Opinions? Questions? Advice?

Excellent piece.  Only negative would be the rubber tip on the door stop.  Otherwise outstanding.

I agree about the rubber tip. I started to replace it with something else but I wanted there to be no mistaking what that was.
Thanks to you and everyone for the compliments.

He must be very confident of it's stability and accuracy to put his hand that close. It's got one hell of a range too. Extraordinary (and highly entertaining ) work.

My method for aging weaponry of a percussion or ionic nature has been to apply a darker metallic tone over a lighter metallic tone using a 2 x 2 block of upholstery foam.(No brush strokes)  I then dab/wipe off  a good portion of the darker color to reveal the undertone. But not too much so that the faux metal looks battle-worn
and aged. Also, if needed I hit areas that would suffer wear with a silver tone.

Greetings!
This is my first post here and these are my first attempts at some weapons.. The first is a scratch-built offering - the second is a typical Naff Maverick Rev-6 for my 12 year-old son.. Hope you like! Smiley

Something about that scratch build feels historically familiar.  Any historical basis in the grip and trigger guard shape?  Due to this point, I like it A LOT in that it has a certain realistic grounding that makes it seem like it would actually work.  Great job on both!

Firstly - some superb work on show lately!

Second - re the professors scratch build - my first thought on the grip shape was that it reminded me of an Austrian Gasser. Great piece!

Looking at things like this make me feel embarrassed for even attempting something so lame as my own shellackings...then again, I suppose its just a matter of me finding the things to make them look better and using a bit of ingenuity. Great job though, kid must be pleased with his awesome new toy.

Just keep experimenting man, that's what it's all about. Sure there are a lot of documented techniques for aging and modding things. But y'know try something different. Ain't nothin to be scared of, and who knows? you might come up with some radical and awesome idea that none of us had thought of.

Then you can teach us something can't you!

Thank you all for your kind comments! This is a new genre for me in respect of making and converting so all your comments are very much appreciated.

Not really! I simply had to make something comfortable that fitted with the shape of the 'barrel' section. It's a wooden core with padded and quilted leather covering.

Professor Elliott: Could you please post (or link to)  some larger photos of your creations?

Certainly! Try these... Hopefully they will post large enough this time!

Do you mind my asking where you got that trigger guard? I've been making my own gun and can't find anything that works.

Amazing creations by the way.
