my story idea. input welcomed

so I have to do a written story as a final for my English class. my idea was a steampunk story involving a world in which robotic life has basically been around for so long that humans are the equivalent of apes well the robotic life basically "throws peanuts at them through bars like a zoo" professor galileo of st berninghams academy for biological study is somewhat of a Charles Darwin of his age and  artificial kind in fact evolved from humans. hes bartend of course and eventually kicked off his post. meanwhile human extermination (for resources of course) has become more commonplace as of recent. now it turns into more of a schindlers list story in which galileo takes in threatened humans to do research on them.

not sure how it will end but thats about it so far. thoughts?
