Everyone gives the Silmarillion I hard time but I've reread it on several occasions; though admitidly I don't reread the creation part.
Aw! Why not! That has to be my favorite part...and then all the bits with Feanor, and the Children of Hurin bit. And Beren and Luthien...ok, so I like the entire thing (I re-read it every Spring). Taking a break from my usual fantasy reading right now, just finished A Dance With Dragons by RR Martin, and am now reading Eternal Echoes By John O'Donohue. Nothing like a bit of Irish philosophy.

I'm refering to the song of creation bit, assuming we are talking about the same part; the rest of it is brilliant, some great characters and stories.

Returned to Green Mars after a stint away that included Admirals in Collision, The Fall of Paris and Moondust.
Had I not put a new shelf up yesterday, the slush pile of books I've yet to read would be about 3' tall. As it is, it fills the shelf.

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

Not reading yet, but very excited to put it in the book queue. Joe Golem and the Drowning City an illustrated novel by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden. The cover is excellent, and I have taken a peek at some of the drawings and I have come to the conclusion that I must read faster, so that I may start this book!

Picked me up a hardcopy collection of H. G. Wells stories. I like the convenience of e-books on phone or tablet when traveling, but real books don't get screen glare.

Oh yes, it was quite a nasty ordeal in reality. Archeologists uncovered Conquistador Armor with strangely shaped gold objects inside. Apparently the Aztecs poured molten gold down their throats.

Wonderful choice, sir! I have finally started and am halfway through Joe Golem and the Drowning City. Highly suggest it to any Mike Mignola fans who haven't read it, and anyone who wants a lovely, strange tale.

"Doc" by Mary Doria Russell. Not that far into it (page 67) but it is fantastic. Now I must learn to play better poker and faro, and get a Western Steampunk outfit together.

Finished 'The Eleventh Plague' today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just as this one carried on where the first novel ended the next one ( 'The Lazarus Curse') will pick up from the end of vol. 2. I shall keep an eye out for it. For my next read I shall return to the Flashman series with 'Flashman's Lady' EDIT: Actually..before I start the next Flashman book I will be reading 'How to Bag a Jabbawock -A Practical Guide to Monster Hunting' by 'Major Jack Union'..(none other than the alter ego of our very own Kit Cox). I, along with many others, was at the book launch last night and a (Hendricks)Gin filled bucket of fun it was too.

I picked up a couple of books at Clockwork Alchemy last weekend, and am currently reading the first volume of The Volcano Lady, by T.E. MacArthur. It's a good read, and I'm looking forward to reading volume two.
