Ah, now if that was when someone was drilling it's explainable... drilling makes a lot of drops and they take up the most memory... regardless of whether it is that or not, it's down to server size... our's isn't big enough for the number of people hence lag.
Sorry,

Yes, the drilling is laggorrific. However, thanks to countless hours of painstaking trial and error, we at R.E.D have created a lag-free drill. That's right, now you too can drill without fear of crippling lag. order now and we'll throw in a free shipment of cobblestone (seriously, there's shedloads here, it's a pain to even chuck it into the lava) straight to your doorstep/equivalent residence of ill repute.

On a seperate and yet related note: we are also offering drilling tutorials at our HQ in Rapture, feel free to enquire whenever we are online, we aim to make sure your drilling proceeds as smoothly as possible.

OK, just a quick question.
I have just installed the too many items mod on my computer for another project in minecraft. this will not affect people on the server, but I will still have the mod while on the server. Too many items lets me put stuff in my inventory in the same way /giveme does, so I don't think it will cause any problems, but if anyone thinks this gives me an unfair advantage, I will turn it off when I go on-line. so, any problems with this?

I didn't think it worked on servers, I thought you needed the server-side mod installed as well... Personally I don't have a problem with it if it does work Tongue

OMG A WOMAN!!!! Is rule 30 of the internet is in fact a lie! Does that also mean rule 34 is a Lie?......Nah

Yh lag free drills are ongoing, bigger and better and all that Jaz.

And R.E.D Is more than happy to clear mountain for people. I have a Bsc in Geology so that makes me qualified >.>

Can we have more ocean floor space perhaps a bit that isnt as deep with a cliff into the "Abyss" where rapture is sitting, so I can make a submersible drilling rig just like from James Camerons (Genius) film "Äbyss".

If mods are busy with other things Ill do it with a drill Cheesy

P.S those trees floating above Rapture....consider them gone

Guys, don't scare people... God knows you scare me sometimes...
As for the submersible rig, you've got a large section of ocean that Rapture boarders (and is currently flowing into the hole) so you could always build another drill ad place it there... that way you bypass the problems with someone having to dig another hole Tongue
In other news; Laputa is on hold until I rewatch the movie.

Lag problems solved.

I'm still working on the houses (9th just finished) and I think I'll stick with that for a while longer.

I think rapture needs some better signposting. The stuff to the left is well enough signposted but with the right hand side you just walk around, get lost and see signs only at the entrances to buildings.

I assure you, that incident in Singapore was all a misunderstanding.

Haha, thanks Gregson! Cheesy
At the moment I only have a plan to build the last bit of the outside (the underside cone and glass bit at the bottom)... I'm hopefully going to watch it tonight so I'll draw up some ideas of what to do... after that I'm not sure how big it'll get.
At the moment it's 'moored' by the Colosseum so anyone can go and look.

Being about halfway through Laputa now I realise mine is... well let's not beat about the bush... crap.
Mine is a tiny 3 floor affair that captures the general idea of the great floating city. It has the general look, but not nearly the grandeur or the scale... or the intricacy. Would it even be possible to build the full scale one? I don't think so... but what about one that's a little bigger and better than mine? One that looks like the real thing?
Just musings really.

I havent seen the movie in a very long time. Things that stick in my mind though are the crystal, the one that keeps Laputa 'Alive' The pirates and that weird flying robot, the protectors of Laputa.
Its a great little movie and i used to watch it when i was a kid. Who knew i was into Steampunk all those years ago.
All i wanna do is watch it now, guess a trip into town is on the books.

Problem folks, a few things from Notch I thought I should warn you about.
Firstly; 1.6 is out next week (probably Friday). This will throw off Bukkit until they update. Should I update to 1.6 as soon as it's out, or wait (no idea how long) for bukkit to update? Your choice.
Secondly; he has confirmed he is working on (and going to complete) a sky dimension. This will probably work similarly to the Nether, and will be awesome!
Thirdly; 1.6 will include working nether in multiplayer. This is good. Start planning your expeditions and forays into Hell itself. We should build a beach resort...
That is all, I just want to know if you guys want 1.6 right away but without bukkit (or any mods) or if you want to wait and stick with 1.5 (you'll have to not upgrade as well) and keep bukkit, then update when bukkit does.

I say wait for Bukkit and the plugins. Although with working Nether in SMP, the stargates will probably be broken.

The nether uses the lighter to work. They shouldn't interfere.

I say we what for bukkit.
On a related note, I think we should put our new nether portal in a building of its own. In a mountain
perhaps.
