No idea at all, and to be honest it doesn't really matter. Once the server's on 1.2 and I can log in again, I'll just build another one in the real world.

There will be a new IP address coming out sometime in the next few weeks. We've had to switch providers (through no ill will) and so the IP will change. When the IP is ready it will be well documented, and I'll post it on the website.
For the time being the normal server will still be active, and nothing will change. When the new server is ready the world save will also be copied over, so no work will be lost. That's why this will take a few weeks (at most) because I want to make the transition as smooth as possible.
For now you can continue to build excellent things! Happy building!

That's a very good idea, but the welcome message isn't present on the new server (and I don't' know when it will be!). But I would like something at spawn to welcome people, if anyone wants a project

Well I DO have a somewhat large Pagoda ready on standby if you want to copy it into the server...it's roughly occupies a 30x30 square on the ground, and is quite tall.

Shoggo; there will be (I'll be writing it up today actually) a web page listing all changes, all new mods and everything else... quickly though; worldedit IS still active, however because of the way permissions are done I've had to change the wand from a wooden axe to a Blaze Rod. It's still accessible with the //wand command.
To everyone else; the new server will be live soon, all that remains is to copy each player over individually, because the new permissions system is a little more verbose than the old one
Peagreen; pagoda sounds good... if you want to drop me or manix a .schematic I'd be happy to move it over!

The post is not finished yet, obviously the new IP isn't included, but it contains all the main changes and I'll be updating it (and date tagging it) as I tweek the last few things before it goes live.

EDIT: I have to enter usernames Case Sensitive when I do this, so if when it's all running you still can't log on (it says you don't have permission) then that's probably why, in which case send me a message and I'll be very sorry and fix it!

Right, the server IS UPDATED!!!!
You will all need to direct your lovely minecraft clients to the following IP;

Check back on the website news post for the rest of the details. The old server will be running for a little bit, but will shut down withing a fortnight. This is the new IP. It will also be linked in the OP and on the website.
THE WHITELIST IS FALLIBLE!! Rather; I am. It's case sensitive and I've got no record of case sensitive names so if there are bugs please let me know and it'll take a second to reset it.

Biome control I can probably do quite easily, although I'll admit I'm worried about the ability for players to just "change" biomes. I think it'll lead to quite a big abuse and range of strange world behaviours, so I'll limit who can actually use it.
Weather control might take a little longer, I'm trying to avoid using Essentials if I can help it so I'm looking for a set of smaller plugins that'll do everything we used from Essentials but faster/lighter.
As of now I'm going to sleep; I've been working on getting this set up as it is for about 7 hours now and I'd really like a break. Tomorrow I'll install the biome editor and look at a warping plugin and a weather plugin.

ATTENTION LONGEYE- SERIOUS PROBLEM - PLEASE Respond ASAP -

there was a hole in the ground just 1 block across near the spawn, below it was just sparkly stuff, never seen anything like it, blue and green and black, it was giving off light, i jumped in and it crashed my game accusing me of hacking now I cant log in, please reset my character!!!!

Scratch that...it was a random end portal, MC didnt like it though.

Also, try putting stairs on the ceiling, you will be presently surprised, that goes for half slabs too
