Just finishing up my latest rocket pack. A local band is looking to do a music video with rocket packs as part. I'll post pictures of the new pack soon. And if everything goes well with the video, post it sometime in the fall.

Finished my latest rocket pack. This one is based on two exhaust tips from motorcycles. Two old auto ornaments. A brass vase and misc other pieces. Leather belts for strapping it on. Two of the images are with the display stand.

Why can't I weld good?
I mean, yeah, if I'm using a CAR BATTERY AND JUMPER CABLES I do just FINE...
But that's about as smart as grabbing the Hot and Neutral wires in your Meter Base.

Come by sometime Xenos. I will show you how to arc weld. Wire weld and forge weld. Right now I don't have a gas rig or I could show you that too.

If ever I'm out your way, I may just take you up on that! I'm always dying to learn new things! (By the way, where exactly IS your way? ) I HAVE done some Oxy/Ace work in the past-although not so much welding as... Well, I was making inhalers for the Hospital in Jordan. Out of those "'Lil Hugs" jugs...

[/quote] do you mean the air chamber? because im not sure how you would be able to make an inhaler out of a plastic bottle. sorry for my first world narrow mindedness

I'm not sure how the docs ended up putting them together-or even what they used 'em for other than asthma related stuff, honestly-all I know is, they dropped about 50 a week off for me to punch a nice square hole in the bottom of. I ended up "Passing the torch" as it were, on to one of our day-laborers. He did a good job at it, although why he felt the need to use an old tractor engine as an anvil when we had a perfectly good anvil is still a mystery...
Most of my work at the hospital involved keeping stuff running, or teaching the doc's kids at the on-site school (History, English, and I was a standin math tutor).

Thanks. I wasn't sure exactly what they were from, but when I found them several weeks ago at a flea market I knew exactly what I would do with them.

I have a rather large assortment of PVC parts and candlesticks, as well as other bits and pieces. Even with school starting up tomorrow and having limited money, I want to give building a rocket pack a shot and see if it meets par with some of the amazing pieces Ive seen here. I doubt it would look as nice as some of the amazing pieces Ive seen so far though.

Well good on you for having a crack at making a pack - and don't put down your own abilities, I am sure you will turn out a cracking pack!

same here. I still would have attempted this a few years back but it would have been with paper machei and cardboard rather than things that need drill bits and bolts to hold them together. I just gone with the 'lets see what I can make with...' and got some favorable results while adding to my skills with trial and error

Totally agree wit hyou there Kath - I always go with the 'let's see what I can make' approach...
... the only draw back is that a few hours into the build it then often turns into the 'oh no, my creation is now turning on its master and trying to kill me'- approach.

The jolly old crate is progressing very well, as of today, she looks like this. The primary fuel intermix manifold sits rather convincingly atop the tank. You'll note that I'm still using a coarse thread on the valve port limiters. Won't touch a fine thread in this vital location ever since old 'Squiffy' Carstairs lost a seal during the '83 Pre-season meet and it took the local Fire Brigade the best part of three days to put him out. Though, it could also have something to do with the source of the components.
