Support your friendly rocket pack builder!

I entered one of my rocket packs in the Miller Welding competition.  It made it to the final 15 were viewers get to vote.  I would greatly appreciate anyone and everyone who is into Steampunk and rocket packs to give me a vote.

Goto http://www.millerwelds.com/challenge/

Look for Rocket Pack by E. Kidera in the Moderate catagory.

Thank you so much!!!

I'VE BEEN MEANING TO PUT THIS ON HERE. FINISHED JUST IN TIME FOR THIS YEAR'S ASYLUM, THE VISCOUNT MARK III PERSONAL ROCKET PACK (PATENT PENDING):

GUAGE...

...AND FUEL INDICATOR.

THE MAIN BOX WITH WORKING VALVES AND WINDER KEYS.

AND SOME MORE SHOTS FOR GOOD LUCK!

I STILL NEED TO DIRTY DOWN THE ENGINE BELLS SO THAT THEY LOOK LIKE THEY'VE SEEN A BIT OF USE BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO DO IT IN TIME FOR THE ASYLUM.

I was very impressed with your rocket pack at Asylum on Friday..I toolk this pic of you wearing it..

Thanks for your support Capt H., Orcan, and Papapunk.

I wore the Rocket Pack to the Maryland Renfair today.  Lots of interest.  Extra fun with the kids when you tell them How you are going to fly home.

If we can get you over to The Asylum next year Maduncle we can add a Rocket Pack race to the Wacky Racies. Of course due to local ordinance, charter or byelaw use of a Rocket pack in the City itself is unlawful, so participants would have to race on foot with their Rocket Packs on.

Oh I do like it!

Points awarded on style - not speed.

So now I need to find a sponsor to get to the Asylum!

Having gone through this whole thread with my mind racing I wandered into the garden and saw an old mini water tank jammed behind the shed........pulled 2 empty lemonade bottles from the recyling bin and stood them next to it like stabalisers.......ran to get my note book......

......Time to join the fun. Grin

Oh dear.  I fear this thread has caused me a memetic infection, a brain fever if you will. This afternoon's work was supposed to be final touches to the Sonic Apparatus for the Retrofuturists' Ball.  To which end I procured a scrapped trumpet for parts.  And now I'm thinking there ought to be fine new rocket pack made - I have the valves and the exhaust bell... and I just serviced the welder ...

I was thinking of having participants stroll round the round part of the 'banjo' at the Castle striking poses to Elton John's 'Rocket Man' before the footrace..., but yes, these are gentlemen, I would expect them to make the whooshing noises, its part of having Y Chromosome

There should also be elements of the Caucus race from Alice in Wonderland. The participants can stop running when they are tired, and the direction of racing is immaterial. The race is over when everyone has had enough. Prizes for everyone! Incidentally, Alice gves each animal a comfit, what is a comfit?

Fruit, nuts or licorice in a hard sugar shell. I'm rather partial to almond ones, but you can keep the licorice ones.

A comfit is I believe a liquorice sweet shaped like a guinea Pig pellet, don't mix the two up.

The winner would be that years King of the Rocketmen. A title in use since 1949 I believe.

Prizes of Licorice?

That should make it a 'regular' event.

More rocketeers - how splendid.

I must pull my trigger finger out and send off the last rocket pack race number request I received weeks ago.

Folks - there are still race number stickers 13 to 25 available...

Next weekend a student photographer who wants to do a steampunk photo shoot is coming to my house to take photos of me in the rocket pack, so I will have some to post soon.

And the Asylum race event sounds like so much fun, I just have to get there somehow (I know use my rocket pack to get there!).

Race number 12 is now on its way to llama492, leaving 13 to 25 available (and those who have received a number know they get more than just the number in their rocketeer racer induction envelope...)
