That's a really, really nice pack, Benjamin. Rather reminds me of the flying sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

They actually have belt thrusters using the H2O2 principal... Bravo for practicallity! Granted, in order for it to work, you'd need greater than 68% solution...
And again, BRAVO for knowing the reaction with platnium! (I only just learned the other day, when looking up about the link I provided!)
I hate to nitpick (that is actually a lie, us mad scientists LOVE to nitpick!), but the wonderful thing about H 2O 2 and platinum is that the Pt is only a catalyst, so it does not react with the H 2O 2, which is lucky as concentrated H 2O 2 will react with just about anything. So your spongy Pt just sits there in the steam chamber getting very hot, while superheated steam comes out. I was going to call H 2O 2 "T-stoff". but I see that the genuine WW2 T-stoff had a stabiliser mixed in it to curb the oxidative tendancies of the pure H 2O 2. Of course all rocketeers will only wish to use the genuine 100% pure article purged of as much of that dratted H 2O as possible. I seem to remember that the conc. H 2O 2 can only be contained in glass, normal 316 stainless steel reacts very well with it. If memory serves iridium (chemically similar, but cheaper than Pt) is compatible with it, but you savants may want to check this before bolting one of these to your back

Oooooooooooooohh!! Love that rocket pack..and that helmet is really cool as well..oh..but that pair of duelling pistols in the case...just beautiful. His little spaceship models are cool too. Perhaps he and Herr Doktor could have a 'Far Too Talented For Their Own Good' contest?

Oh I've seen that armour before without realising it was his. I'd love to see him..or anybody for that matter....try and put that armour on a cat! You'd need to wear claw proof armour yourself to achieve it.

Always liked Mr. DeBoer's work, in fact, I even posted a link to that very site some years ago; http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,10145.msg189494.html#msg189494Still, good to be reminded of it!

More amazing stuff!
The work by Jeff De Boer is stunning, and the jet pack with the green window by Benjamin is brilliant!
I have posted off number 11, so there are still 14 left for more rocket/jet packs.
I am also going to do some more work on my pack, as it will be exhibited later next year, which gives me plenty of time to add more to it.

Thanks Barb - that was wonderful to watch (apart from the Avatar music). I kept wondering what his landing options were, apart from gaining as much altitude as possible before pulling the 'chute cord!

Uncle-
I *know*!
I kept thinking he was going to try and land on that apparatus looking thin on top of that butte...
that scaffold looking thingy.
And yeah the music was 'woo-woo' John Denver's 'Eagle and the Hawk' would work, though.
I'm glad it wasn't inappropriate for the thread. I do enjoy reading here.

Jetman never gets old! (the music was 'Adiemus', though, as ripped off by borrowed by James Horner for Avatar, though I'd have preferred 'Fly Like an Eagle' by the Steve Miller band ) Hmm, would a Steamed version of Jetman have biplane wings?

Jetman is very impressive ..but if you need a helicopter to take you up to a decent altitude before you can actually 'take to the air'..it's a bit pointless. Could he not just leap off a cliff top?
Oh and 'Jet Boy' by the New York Dolls would be my choice of music.
