I was thinking of a costume based on a steampunk alternate future where the Confederacy won the War of Northern Aggression. What weapons besides the Sabre, LeMat pistol, Beaumont-adams, Kerr, Lefaucheux pistols, and Enfield, the m1841, Lorenz Rifle, Springfield and Fayetteville rifles, etc.

Bowie knife or Tennessee toothpick. Cane swords also, as most of the south still considered itself aristocracy, so also hold out pistols, garter daggers, and the like.

Interesting idea, especially since I am in the capitol of the Confederacy, which was a very industrialized Southern city at the time. A Spiller & Burr would be appropriate, lots of brass. Also any early pinfire revolvers as well as early pocket rimfires. Vintage pinfires can be had reasonably enough, not so early S&Ws. A cool rifle is the Hall breechloader, usually converted to percussion, which were actually used. I have a friend who has and shoots his original flintlock model, also known to have been used in the war.

I sported that very combination, along with a light grey greatcoat, at Lincoln two years ago. It works well (or at least I though so). I took my inspiration from this picy:  I've been playing around with the idea of a confederate blockade runner/privateer theme/outfit for a while now; the airship in my sig was originally intended to be a CSN vessel. Some form of rocket launcher might also be fitting; I heard the confederates played around with all sorts of things during the civil war. There's also the idea that the war may have spilled over into neighbouring states, so you may be able to integrate other things in too. As for armour, don't forget:  hope you like, -Matt |

I think a Coehorn can be had, but a bit heavy to lug around.
As far as hand arms, don't forget that the Pepperbox and the ducksfoot pistol were also in use. There was the Elgin cutlass pistol. Lots of hat options to choose from with the southern style.

That would be interesting to carry a pepperbox, indeed, Dr. Madd. I don't know if anyone is currently making a repro, and an original in firing condition can be more than modestly expensive, but I applaud the style. I like a Ruger birdshead grip sheriff's model Vaquero carried crossdraw Bat Masterson style, especially if in vest and frockcoat 1880's western dress traveling for CAS/SASS events. In 45 Colt it is a compact and robust armament if needed, which I sincerely hope it never is.
For hats, have you considered a Hardee Hat? The style is well suited to steampunk and they were known among Southern soldiers.

I remember seeing in a few different gun mags that there are pepper box kits that you can purchase for home assembly, whether they work or not is another thing entirely.
That being said, the 1st mechanical union marines will stand in defense against those who would seek to sunder it apart!

I'm assuming the modern pepperbox design has been perfected somewhat. I'd certainly be wary of originals. From what I can gather one of it's biggest design flaws was that all the barrels could misfire simultaneously, sometimes releiving the user of their hand!
