There are posts for things that make you go "GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!" and "WTF?", even threads that let you report on whether or not you had a good/productive day.

Well I thought it was time to balance out the exasperiation, with a thread purely for things that have made you happy today.  It could be an enjoyable post in good old BG, you may have had a little something come in the post, perhaps you found something you thought you had lost.  You may be avoiding the threads above thinking "Always with the negative waves, Moriarty!", well, let your joy flood out here, let your cup runneth over let "happines, happiness (be) the greatest gift that we possess".

I shall start by being very happy with the contents of the post today.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A Kindle, a box of meccano pulleys, a brass pressure valve and an unsmoked (ever) reconditioned Manx Meerschaum pipe.

So very happy on all accounts, the pipe smokes beautifully, the Kindle is already filling with books, the brass valve was so cheap I'd almost forgotten buying it and the pulleys are already being sorted through for use in my current build project.

A very good day Smiley

Sixteen views and no one can post something that makes them happy? Lighten up, sad-sacks!

Something that makes me happy is that I've worked out another portion of the world I've always wanted to play in, and am well on my way to turning it into a world that my D&D group -can- play in.

Finishing projects
Hot rods (quiet ones with superchargers)
Steam Trains
Brass gauges (like the one in the Majors post) ... just seeing it makes me happy!
Old houses that have been restored
My Grandkiddies.
My beautiful bride Ms Bird.

edit:
I must say thank you to the good Major for starting this thread.  Good on 'ye mate! Smiley

The Rocky Horror Picture Show presented by Glee!
My teenaged daughter was watching it - and I just couldn't help myself; SWMBO and I danced "The Timewarp" at our wedding with some like minded friends, the older generation weren't quite sure what was going on

My copy of 'Wilde' arrived this evening and I've spent the last two hours happily sitting through it making mental notes of the costumes.  I've decided at the very least I need a morning coat with two or more buttons and some brocade waistcoats  Cheesy

Got a slightly tricky set of drawings finished on schedule! I even got to use one of my favorite Adobe Illustrator tricks, and it's one I particularly like, because it solves a problem which was really stressful back in the ink & paint days.

Double Happy hit today:

Beautiful Sunshine for my daily perambulation to the local Caffine Imbibment Establishment. (Birkenhead no less)

Saying goodbye to a colleague who is leaving to do a few months travelling around New Zealand before going to university.
I gave her, as a present, a set of Rosemary & Co travelling paint brushes and some watercolour postcards. At 55 I now have the rather strange situation of having made a 25 year old girl squeel loudly with delight in front of the whole office.
I think she might have liked them.

My 83 yr old mother is back in hospital (250 miles away)after another fall. I spoke to her on Wednesday and due to the meds she was confused, unhappy and barely lucid and it was very distressing for me to hear her like that. Just spoken to her again and she sounded focused, lucid, and quite chipper..and that has really made me happy.

Over the last week I've been painting some 1/32 scale 24th Foot model soldiers (something I used to do a lot of but haven't for quite a few years now) I don't do war gaming or make dioramas..I just do it  because it makes me happy. I find it very theraputic and I'm quite pleased with the way they've come out. Today I took delivery of another  set of 1/32 scale figues, a highland regiment from the Sudan campaign at the Battle of Tamai. I intend to paint them with tan/khaki tunics rather than the grey they should have because then they will look just like the 3rd Foot and Mouth.  Grin

Hurray for that!!

Same with my own mother ... she was going through hard times, confused, disconnected.  I spoke with her yesterday and experienced the same as you.  Huzzah!! (and she is 1200 miles away)

The big smiley delight for today, and continuing on into the future is my son got married yesterday (festivities pending) to a wonderful girl with a delightful wee son of her own.  This gives his boys a real mommy, and her son a real daddy.  This also forces (in due time) the "genetic donators" (the birth mother, and birth father) into legal purgatory (may they disappear in a fluff of fart foam).

Now I officially have three grandkiddies , aged 6, 4 and 2.  Grin

All three are coming to the Birdnest to visit for the weekend.  Much fun will be had by all.

Things that made me happy today:
  • Talking to Master Seabear
  • Teaching Little Sister to giggle on cue
  • Starting a new skirt
  • Being nuzzled by my pet mouse, when she sensed I may not be happy whilst she was climbing on me

Not too bad, overall. Smiley

Ooo, I likes this thread! Now lets see...

Violin lesson went really well today and I can play some simple tunes now rather than just making a terrible noise all over the place.

Got a phone call to see if I'm interested in a full time job. Duh, yeah!

Oh and the sun was shining today. Felt like spring is on its way. Yay!

Finding on ebay exactly the sort of trousers I was looking for to go with my pinstriped very very light grey flannel blazer- beige with a check pattern.  And for sale at a very reasonable £3.99, no less.  Needless to say I snagged them just as quickly as my aethernet connection allows.

Things that made me happy today:

Welsh cakes
My new cat nuzzling me awake this morning
Seeing new piglets on the farm!
Mr C making dinner for once
My new mugmats! They are little fabric cushions stuffed with cloves and cinnamon, when the hot mug is rested on it, it warms up and fills the room with a gorgeous smell. I am a vey VERY smell-based person, so they are perfect for me.

Things that made me happy today:
  • A glass of port followed by the first smoke of my new Manx Meerschaum pipe to unwind from work
  • The arrival of the mock-book cover for my Kindle
  • Getting two free tickets for Alexander Armstrong's 'Pointless' quiz being recorded on Monday (attending guarantees me two tickets to a QI recording!)
  • Then finding out I have tickets for The Now Show on March 3rd
  • A cat coming and having a chat (and a fuss) with me on the way home
  • Hearing that I had inspired somebody to become involved in Steampunk... that was the best thing Smiley
  • Series 3 of Due South on iPlayer following straight on from Series 2

A simple thing. I had lunch at a small local café with a younger friend who I seldom see. We both had the 'blue plate special' - superb fried catfish with hush puppies, corn on the cob, and really good cole slaw. Then my friend picked up the check over my protest and said, "No, Master, this is on me." I was touched.
