"Your......your taking him with you? Are you stupid?"
Balthazar was angry.
"He is a war criminal and must see justice! You've placed ME in danger.....I'll be arrested as being a party to all of this! THEY WILL HANG ME!"

"Of course they won't. You have two ways of going about this that I can see. Three if you you include the stupid notion that you will either shoot or capture me, as I can tell you right now you will not. You can either come with us, help us to solve this and tell everyone you let Madd out on purpose to assist you, then let him escape and ride the glory of solving this out of trouble, or we can knock you and and nobody will be the wiser." Longeye dropped, spun and kicked up, sending the shotgun flying out of the Professor's hands. Ethan didn't even bat an eyelid, and gently moved with Griffiths as he stumbled, the blade not moving from his throat or doing the slightest damage. Longeye was impressed. "Now that nasty thing is out of the equation, what do you want to do? If you have a better idea please do tell me, I'm willing to negotiate now."

Balthazar was impressed with Longeyes skill, but his eyes blazed with hatred.
"There was a better way of doing this Captain. I have no power here. I'll go with you, but it won't matter, I'll be a criminal now, and Daingerfield will hunt me."
He moved away from Ethan and picked up his shotgun. He then pointed at him.
"You ever put a knife to me again and you'll regret it."

Madd was enjoying a nice fresh piece of Pita bread, within sight of the Airship.. Sipping a fresh fruit juice, he toasted Dangerfield. His lunch finished, he made his way to the Apothecary...
The Apothecary was just away from the airship moorings, and was a small, open fronted shop inside a Stuccoed grotto, an old Egyptian man in a biege robe and dull red turban manning the shop. Madd studied each of the drugs and chemicals in the large, open baskets before him.

"Dangerfield will do no such thing..." Longeye mused, grinning to himself. He rummaged around the room for a moment before finding some paper. He returned to the crewman who was still concious (though clutching his arm) and propped him up. He began writing on the paper, chatting to the man as he did. "Right son, you know who I am and you saw what I just did. You know exactly what I'm capable of, and I'm sure you don't need telling that if I was so inclined I wouldn't have stunned the lot of you, rather killed you. The fact I didn't is a sign of my intentions. "You see, I don't want to hurt any of you or get in your way. The fact of the matter is that if you hadn't arrested Madd this wouldn't be happening, but as you did I had to break him out. Honour bound I'm afraid. Now we have him, we're going to be on our way without any problem. Your crew are all fine, some a little dazed certainly, but nothing permanent. "Now the professor over there is coming with us. I'll be honest, he doesn't really have a choice. He's coming with us as he's a very learned man on history and legendary, or mythical, stories from the ages. We could really use someone like that, and so we're... borrowing him you could say. "Dangerfield will wake up in a while, and I want you to give him my sincerest apologies and tell him that if he turns a blind eye for a while, he'll get his professor back and there will be no problems. Do you understand all that?" he finished, signed the note with a flourish and tucked it into the man's arm. The crewman nodded weakly and leaned his head back. "Good! Gentlemen?" Longeye rose and turned, "Shall we depart?"

Madd was like a kid in a Candy store among the street merchants of Cairo, spending the bag of gold in his pack on snake venoms, hallucinogens to line his darts,on Anesthetics, poisons and chemicals of every shape and size, as well as a large canvas bag of powdered red pepper.

As he neared a carpet and cloth vendor, he had an idea. Smiling, he arranged swatches of red, white and blue cloth into the shape of a confederate flag.

Longeye strode out of the ship, the rest of the group in tow. It didn't take very long for them to reach Cairo proper, and they shortly found that Madd was missing. "Okay, what next? We need a ship, but where do we go?"

"Nile Delta. If things from our time is the same then there should be the Mediterranean waystation for cargo haulers. From there we can get to at least Sicily before anyone gets in our way."

Balthazar couldn't stay on the ship, we had no choice than to follow Longeye.
"He's right. The Nile would be a good choice. We need to avoid the Cairo authorities. Daingerfield will tell them about the assault, and we won't care that no one died."
He stopped and looked around. "So where is the Rebel?"

"Well we've found Madd..." Longeye murmured and wandered over. "I agree, we need to keep away from authorities as much as possible. Ideally Dangerfield won't wake up for another-" he checked his pocket watch "Half hour... I'd like to get out of Egypt without there being any record of us leaving, that'll make it harder to track us. Does anyone have any contacts in Cairo? If not we'll have to head to the Nile and hope there's some characters of ill repute we can hire."

"Well, I know there's a fruit merchant who has his own skiff headed downriver this evening." He said, dipping a piece of Pita into a bit of red pepper hummus.

"And just how do you know that Madd? We've only been here 20 minutes."
He eyed the man suspiciously. From this moment on, Balthazar had marked Madd as an enemy and would somehow find Justice for is lost comrades and the atrocities the man had committed.
"We also need to be careful we don't attract attention from other sources of trouble, such as anyone who might think our goods are best taken for their own, or other such rough ideas lowlife types might take into their head."
As he spoke an explosion sounded from the Airship. Several men could be seen running away dressed in white and red.
"Oh God......."

"I talk to people, and I listen. Heard some English tourists talking to the merchant. His english is broken, but Intelligible enough. What better way to hide than on a merchant vessel." Madd said, nibbling a date.
"Remind me to keep Cairo on my Dining Schedule."

Longeye gave a start at the explosion, dulled as it was by the distance. "That cannot be good. Nothing we can do, we need to leave right now. I don't think we can wait until the evening..."

Just about then, several blue-clad soldiers made a ruckus, heading down the street towards Longeye, Madd and Griiffiths. They were easily recognizable by their US ensignia..
"Probably just investigating the explosion" Madd quipped As he pulled the group into an alley, behind a cloth merchant's wares, " But let's not find out."

"Good plan... Let's head this way..." he headed off at a quick, buy not hurried, walk out of the alley into a busy square full of colour and noise. "Looks like a market, we should be able to hide here."

"I've got about ten British pounds in various coinage... I'd guess we could get a lot here for that, anyone else got anything? Or any things we could sell for more local currency? I'm concerned that British coins might be considered odd enough to warrant attention."

"But We'll be long gone before the first eyebrow is raised. " Madd replied, placing a havelock under his pith helmet and wrapping his face, as he handed off some coins to the merchant, as he attached the clasp on his cloak, a sandy khaki in color.

Longeye himself bought a thin dusty cloak and wrapped it around himself, covering his face and head, along with his clothes. He grimaced before burying his naginata in the sand and uncovering it again. It looked far less impressive, dusty and gritty. It would need cleaning soon or the scratches would ruin it, but for now it was disguised. He'd seen three naginata already what with the wide variety of ethnicities present, so nobody would see it as anything more than vaguely interesting.

Ethan was less conventional in his disguise, or at least his attainment of one. He went straight for the back streets. There, he soon acquired a robust and nondescript set of clothes, as was of course worn by those who wanted to go unnoticed by society, and all manner of very hide able weapons after a few short brawls. Violence was effective, he knew that, but he still found its use to be a disturbing experience. Even when it was a thug that deserved to be unconscious and naked in an alleyway it still reminded him of the kidnapped teens and the prisoners of war and the trafficked minorities that he was made to fight and kill for the enjoyment of people who otherwise filled in days with factory work and dinner.
