Longeye paused. "Very well, our arrival was a bit sudden. We shall just have to do our best to give you no reason not to trust us."

He motioned towards them all.

"Let's get on the Airship. Perhaps a drink and some relaxation will call the nerves. We also need to get these British soldiers hidden away."

"WE, Professor Griffths, are not using magic. I don't use magic. I don't need magic, generally speaking. I have living weapons."

"And is there a machine shop aboard? I am afraid in all the mayhem, I'll need to rearm my darts from whatever metal rods I can find, a grinder to sharpen my khukri, and If they have it some counterweights and rigging, about 12 feet of it and three counterweights."

Balthazar shook his head.

"No machine shop. We have whetstones though. and They won't give you any weights or rigging. The ANF keeps track of all of that. They don't like having to order more supplies."

" Very well, a trash room where they keep rubbish?"  Madd seemed intent.

"What manner of trash do you have that requires a restricted entry? " Madd calms for a moment, " I can construct some of my primitive weapons from cast-off items, you see. Not only do I specialize in living weaponry, but I also am excellent at improvised weaponry."

"I'll bet there will be more opportunity for things like that in Cairo. They're bound to have things like rubbish or more carefully made materials but without the militant caution." Longeye wandered out into the desert and found the British troop commander.
"Commander. You and your men are allowed passage on the ship at the generosity of it's own Captain. Please don't disrespect this generosity, and remember that as a military vessel it will be rather more jumpy than usual, especially with mages on board. Don't do anything to antagonize them."
The man looked strained, he wasn't liking being given orders by anyone who he didn't know, but he also wasn't going to risk it.
"Very well." He set about ordering his men, with the aid of the ship's crew, into their quarters.

"Dr. Madd. I'll escort you down once we on our way. you will be allowed into the trash room and can gather a few things then we will go back up."

after he spoke something occurred to him.

"Gentleman, I must ask you now, are any of you criminals or wanted anywhere? If so would Cairo and Egypt or the U. S. have a claim to your arrest?"

He hadn't thought it before because the law was not his realm of purview. He was working for the University and was no longer a soldier so the Law, unless directly related to himself, was rarely a concern of his.

Longeye had walked back into the pyramid to catch Balthazar's question, and he too paused.
"Not exactly..." he muttered, and noticed Madd also looked a little uncomfortable with the question. He wondered what the man had done.

Down in the trash room, Madd began his business of constructing a few new weapons- A broken piece of plating, cut right would  make a dandy boomerang, He found several belts and by braiding and knotting them, attached them to some rusty cogs, and made a South American Bola, and some rusty iron rods, sharpened and
coned with pieces of scrap cloth, made some excellent Blowgun darts.

He left the rubbish room, and tipped his pith helmet to Professor Griffth, "Much Obliged, Professor."

And with that , he dissappeared into the laboratory.

Madd's notes: OOC No machine shop.

"I am an agent of the British Empire, Professor, not a criminal, despite your insistence that magical activity is illegal in the United States (I'd imagine that enforcement of that law is rather problematic, by the way, especially among your native peoples). If you find my use of magic to be a reason to distrust me, then that is your problem, not mine. I am sworn, from the age of ten, to use blade, body and magic in defense of my guild and my monarch, and I will continue to do so whether you are offended by such or not. To be quite frank, sir, your utter bigotry offends me."

"With all due respect, I'd have to agree, " Madd added, " Though we in the South had not developed the Confederate Thaumaturgy corps."

"Its not MY bigotry, its the laws of the United States. Magic was used among the many wars with the Indians. They fought us with impossible odds and they lost, but the committed awful horrors. I will uphold the laws of my Land Gentleman, if you disagree with it, then you can stay here. I an intrigued by magic, but I also know its like a  drug, the more you use it, the more you want it, the more you use again. Its dangerous and it corrupts."

"Professor the addiction in magic lies in the power. The same can be said for any responsibility. Magic is no different." he mused.

"I understand that Captain. But I was raised to be weary of Mages and I was then shown how right that warning was when I saw what Magic can do."

Balthazar walked to the ramp to the airship.

"Lets all get aboard and settle in so we can be on our way, Once in Cairo tomorrow, you will be free of the 'Bigotry' you dislike."

He went aboard the ship and went to his own quarters.

Longeye sighed. This wasn't a good way to start a voyage, not matter how short the trip was to be.
"Yarrow, I know the problems with having magic restricted, but unless you can telep-" he stopped, dumbstruck. "Yarrow, why don't you go ahead of us?"

" I don't use magic. In addition to states' rights, the South believed that the use of magic was a good weapon to use.  At any rate-"

As Madd spoke one of the American Soldiers stopped in front of Madd, his eyes wide.

"YOU-" He set upon the Pith Helmeted Doctor, " I saw your face on a wanted poster at Bonnet Point Fort."

Madd raised an eyebrow. "Did you?"

Dangerfield heard the ruckus and entered the chamber-

Daingerfield entered the room and pointed at the young man making the commotion.

"Sergeant Hemsland, could you please explain why you are yelling?"

"Cause ah him, Sir! I saw 'is wanted poster at Bonnet Point Fort." The mans southern accent had made its self known many a time when stressed or agitated. Usually he had it under control and sounded northern.

As Daingerfield looked at Madd it dawned on his face.

"Well well, Dr. Melvin Quinine Madd. We've been looking for you for a long time. Sherman himself signed the order of arrest. So Doctor, surrender or will you fight?"

Daingerfield motioned and soon each of his men appeared each holding an air rifle.

"Seeing as you like to use animals as weapons, I'm afraid your request is denied."

He moved closer to the Doctor.

"I personally witnessed personally your work with the Crocodiles in Georgia. I had friends that died screaming in agony."

He motioned to the men and as they moved closer he spoke again.

"I suggest you cooperate Made. Or we will shoot."

"Don't harm Hannibal." Madd said, " He's like a son to me and at any rate, a ball python is too small to make much trouble. Smallest species in Africa, you know. You have my word on my life of that, as one gentleman to another. You could shoot me, of course, but if you do, be aware I have one of my guano grenades ready to deploy and endanger your crew and ship. I'll surrender, so long as Hannibal comes with me. otherwise, you shoot, I die, and you can choke on the poison grenade. Gentlemen?"

Longeye was at a loss. Madd had obviously done something very bad for the crew to take this level of aggression towards him, and whilst they technically couldn't arrest a British citizen on Egyptian soil without a lot of paperwork, if they decided that they'd just attack the group to clear this problem up then Longeye wasn't sure anyone would survive.
"Captain, a moment with Madd. Don't worry-" he added at the outraged look that began to blossom on the man's face "I'm not goign to take him anywhere or let him escape, I just want a chat." and without waiting he pulled the man off to one side.
"Whatever you did they're not going to let you go. We could try and break you out if you want."
