Steampunk is one of the 6 major themes of CombatCon, an upcoming 3-day event scheduled for June 24-26, 2011 that intends to bring various fiction genres together with martial arts, hand to hand combat and fight scene choreography.  The Steampunk theme reads:

Quote
Ah, Victoriana. The Age of Elegance. A time when gentlemen wore top-hats, and ladies wore long, white gloves. When steam drove powerful locomotives across the world and the telephone debuted to great excitement. When goggles were the latest must-have fashion, and graceful airships carried travelers aloft. …Or, at least that’s what Victoriana is in the world of Steampunk.

From Sherlock Holmes to the steam-powered weird, wild West of the United States, Steampunk takes us on a fanciful journey through a history that could have been and through a world of great adventure and tremendous scientific advancement. At CombatCon, we proudly present Bartitsu, the martial art of Sherlock Holmes. Learn how a gentleman may wield a cane to great effectiveness against the ruffian, and how a lady may defend herself with a simple umbrella. Learn the graceful and elegant art of Bare Knuckle Pugilism, or how to defend one’s pocket book without rumpling one’s jacket.

Come to CombatCon, and step into a world of civility, pomp, circumstance, and steam.
