name change is not a problem, just need to make sure I don't duplicate yet another ship, lol.

Choices:
-Pantera

-Demologos II (did I already use this? I can't remember)

Demologos I would have been Fulton's behemoth. Yes, he really did build a warship; huge, twin-hulled, paddle wheel in the middle, complete with a high-pressure hose for flooding enemy decks and thus wetting their cannon. I can't remember how many guns it supposedly had. Nothing much exists concerning it beyond its maiden voyage, so I assume it was less than a success.

I'll go for Demologos II (just don't like the word 'Pantera' Tongue )

Well it's nothing difficult to change.

Also, I'll leave it to Gebbert to decide whether or not the device finds something.

Two things.

1 - A reminder to Axel that we can't actually kill off player characters without the player's permission (though I'm guessing you have thought of that and have a nicely fitting piece of plot)

2 - I'M A MOD! I am now officially the moderator for the Portrayal board! Less relevance but more excitement!

Hey Corsair about the plot (killing thing). I was thinking of having your character maybe beat me the first time. After you realise I'm trying to kill you of course you'll wonder why. We somehow need someway of communicating. I know this is steampunk and all. But a walkie talkie would do nicely. Maybe improv something cause all i can think of are smoke signals and they just don't cut it. Undecided

Congrats on your new Mod-ness, Corsair.

I've been having the Raptor and others use what I've been referring to as 'aetherphones' or 'aetheradio', basically old-style, just-post-Morse-tech 'wireless' (that's what 'wireless' used to refer to, after all) crystal-diode sets with transceiver capability. --though I haven't actually gone to the trouble of describing their workings in detail just yet. Perhaps  that would suffice?

I'll be making a post soon enough...
I'm stuck in the midst of a genre assignment for English (I'm analysing steampunk. What else would I pick?) so I haven't quite had the extra drive to imagine up the next universal happening.

"Engineering! damage reports! NOW!" Hildebrandt screamed into the relevant speaking tube.

There was a response, but it was unintelligible beyond the obvious: that Engineering would not be responding in the usual manner.

"Agawagah. AAAAGGGHHHH...hissssssssss..." And then, nothing.

Hm?

Not sure what the issue is.

To clarify the passage, it's just an idea of what a battle-damaged speaking tube would sound like, based on Pratchett's extremely iffy Watch House system (a la the one in Unseen Academicals; in that novel, rats keep chewing through the tubing, producing all sorts of sound loss and weird effects). \The AAGGHHHH in my example could either be frustration or somebody getting steam-scalded or electrocuted, followed by a hiss, perhaps of escaping steam. The 'awagawah' or whatever I typed would be the garbled result of someone desperately trying to use the tube.

It's an experimental prototype, so to my mind the Demologos would have a mix of standard vs. whatever tech was available or in development, and might be absolutely deadly and invulnerable until 'sideswiped,' so to speak, by a weapon (the coilgun/railgun) that is more powerful than the weapons that were conventional when its defenses were designed and built.

I'm not sure whether the Demologos should be captured and commandeered, or allowed to fight free, limp away, and show up repaired, improved, and at the worst possible time for our heroes' crusade. The latter sounds better plotwise to my ears, but others might disagree.

Please pardon the wall of text.

PM'ed, but no answer as of yet. No real problem, as I can't really post anything until one or more others do so anyway. If there's still no answer after that happens, I guess I'll just have to carry on regardless ("carrion, regardless"? Tongue)

I thought of the same pun...

I was wanting to wait for Gebbert to post before I slipped back in to Falko. I might just make another Vancouver post. Garrow won't pop up for a while again.

Inspired by Revy from Black Lagoon; Thinking of doing the same kind of thing with Irene in the Between the Threads stories.

I'm Not Deus Ex-ing; the battle's not over yet. I keep thinking it would be kewl to have a villain ship out there, lurking.

Hopefully I'm not dragging it out too much. Sorry about the Massive Text Wall(s).

I think it's awesome personally. We're going to get a lot more action with more roving plot points around.

O sorry! No problems i guess I just accidentally screwed something up! Yes it was a while back now but I can't exactly renember my motives back then. O well sorry for any incomvinence. And as for the afk I just had school and sporting champs stack up a bit. As cie's are coming up i might be a bit more inconsistent as of yet but I'll try get on and post where possible. But as for the multiple locations it won't affect people's plans hopefully Smiley.

Uh-oh, Is Falco dead?

I haven't worked out, yet, how the Demologos will escape (She's faster, of course, than the Raptor, and Fergus' ship is battle-damaged in any case, but if/when she does skedaddle, should she retreat south toward Atlanta or northwards?

I'd imagine it'd go inland. It'd be easier to hide there.

Falko rode the bomb...

Haha!

By the way, a fair few of us are in exam season so it'll be quiet around here for about a month more. I'll try and keep up the posts but I can't speak for everyone.

Even post-exams I think I'll be quite busy between getting a job, writing my Asylum story and band stuff...
Still, my guess is it'll pick up closer to Christmas. Also, it's almost been a year! (okay only about 3/4 a year but still!)

Are we sure that Falco's dead? I thought Corsair was going to come back in December.
