I thought up for something that might be a good base..
I'm short on technical terms so here's a picture of it..

of course with empty tube thing in it.. there could easily be made a barrel onto it.. maybe even retractable (into the empty container?) gives approximately 30 cm or so?

You could google the M3 Submachine gun for an idea on what to do with this (but have a longer barrel and shorter magazine)

The M3 was also called the grease gun

You might want to have a look at this thread for a base to the rifle

I know it's nothing close to a rifle but.. well I need some practice modding things I guess..
and found a little gun thingy in some weird cheap shop.. it actually fires bullets (air mechanism)..  I'm still deciding on how to paint it..
I figured spray painting base colours and then just brush in some.. effect?

Have a look at the threads in the "How To" part of the tactile threads for painting guides and Nerf modding tutorials - there is a good one on wood painting effects somewhere

using a sniper rifle for self defence is as good an idea as trying to butter toast with a broadsword
sure it will get the job done but it will take great effort and will most likely do as much dammage to you as to the toast.

What, don't you have a 1000 meter, "I'm warning you, deadly force will be used!" boundary around your domain?

 Cool

I second this, everyone likes a good work in progress thread.

imgur.com is even faster, about 5 seconds to grab your avatar to a unique address-

I stopped using photobucket completely.
