Like BurningLizard, I simply do not have the time to build my design before the first of April.
However, I do intend to try and put it together sometime.
Although Anybody who does not finish by the 1st of April, will not qualify for the competition, I see no reason why this challenge should not be ongoing if anybody wants to offer up their creations after the deadline for their own satisfaction, and for our entertainment.

I hoped I would be able to finish the device on time , unfortunately my work interfered with my plans again ... My quackerpult is 60% complete . It can launch ducks and reload itself but the controller and the ammunition feeding mechanism is still missing . Here are the pictures : The quackerpult uses two pieces of latex tubing to store the energy : The "springs" and the slider repositioning mechanism are moved by a motor which was used to power a sliding doors . Of course I modified it a bit to hide its modern origin : The firing is done in three steps . First the slider is positioned fully backwards and the projectile is inserted . Then the tubing is stretched while the trigger mechanism holds the slider in place After the shot the slider rests on the guidages and the machine is ready for reloading Tommorow I will post the video of the device . Today it was too late and too dark to make a proper clip . |

Mr. Consciousflesh that is magnificent.
As this is more about the fun of it than a serious competition, what is the general view of everybody about setting back the finish date by a few weeks to allow for "Tinkering time" for everyone to put a finish to their Quackerpults?

Nobody has ever taken a creative idea of hers that seriously before, she says. She is thrilled to little pieces! Thanks for making her day! My torsion powered design is simplicity personified, in the style of Madd-i.e. built from household materials.  A simple elastic band with a leather cup.  The Duck is placed in the cup, and the ends of the band held between the fingers tightly.  Like so. Not very customized, but in my inventing style, items are used for a means other than their intended purpose. |

Moving the closing date for this challenge is a very good idea. I could use this time to add some improvements too How does another six weeks sound? thats 12 days of weekends. |

Or cut off my fingers with its chain drive ... That's awesome!!! What's the range?
Frankly speaking , I still have no idea what its range is . As I said The Quackerpult is incomplete . For the trigger mechanism I need to apply 100V pulse , and now I'm providing this power from one of my bench power supplies . Due to that fact I cannot bring it outside and measure its range . I'm planning to do this as soon as the launcher will be self-sufficient . |

My ammunition seems to be broken ...  I tried hitting various things with it and was unable to achieve that sound. Probably the impact is too short to cause the duck to deform enough. I have a perfect alibi for that time ! Also , don't believe all this nonsense about my world domination plans |
