I have no preference for when. Would be happy to help out, if volunteers needed, even if I don't have anything tp swap!

Thanks, Esme. It would be good to see you.

And just to reassure people- you're welcome along for a chat whether you have stuff to swap or not...

only JUST getting my first costume together so nothing to swap other than my hand crafted items... not sure they are steamy enough though or that anyone would wnat them in a swap....  Shame its not a sale but I  understand why its not and the point of it being  a swap... sounds like a lot of fun though...

We swapped all kinds of things last year, anything that didn;t get swapped got donated to charity. Anything has steampunk potential, things like white shirts and black trousers, ties, waistcoats, smart shoes, plain long skirts, hair clips. Even componant pieces like beads, lengths of ribbon and lace, clock parts, buttons and the like. We don't expect people to bring along exquisitely hand crafted ray guns or £200 corsets! Come along anyway, even if you don't feel confident swapping Smiley

would definitely be up for this - had a great time last time and that venue couldn't be better especially for parking. Don't really mind

Registering an interest here,
Prefererably for after the New Year, but I'll be at any swapping party that comes my way.

The thing is, Zuzu, that whilst particular items in themselves may not look particularly Steampunk, when mixed in with other bits and bobs, or used as a base or and adornment to other things, they might be.   Often, it's not the raw material, it's what you do with it that makes it Steampunk.

I have asked my husband if he can get time off work and i am working out if I can do the same so we can travel as it sounds good. and we are so so desperate to start getting involved. there seems to be nothing (or very little) here in scotland lol.

thanks for the encouragement.  who knows what I will have acquired to swap by then Smiley

Understood and I would love to come. So am looking at making it there.  Will need to get accommodation as its way to far to drive there and back in a day.
I will  start a basket of possible items and surprisingly I discovered two things in my wardrobe I would have used for a costume myself had i been a size (or two lol) smaller still. I think they would be very  suitable for someone else less matronly Wink

Hi all,

Don't worry about the venue, whether it's B'ham or otherwise, I do have options.

The first thing is to agree when- ie, which side of Xmas. Then I can finalise where.

I think that post-Christmas would probably be better for the Memsahib and me, although we would also try and get along to a pre-Christmas swap.

PS Governess, any chance of either amending the title of this thread to reflect the current status, or spawning a new thread entirely? I've just had to go fishing around several pages to assure myself that the date of the next swap has not been fixed at 26 Feb 2012.

Yes I think Feb would be better if I may add there. Mind me saying but having it in Brum is better as its very much in the centre of the country so all (hopefully easy for Scots) to get to...give everyone a chance topographically if that makes sense!?
