As part of an Exam this year I'm scoring some incidental music for a sequence from the original Moby Dick.

This is still one of my favourite books, and the original is my favourite film version.

When researching I came across this on the net. It was the first I'd heard of it.

I'm hoping it's going to be good, it looks interesting, anyone have any more info?

Was rather hoping they would cast against type by having Gillian Anderson play Ishmael or better still Queequeg, but no, she looks to have a supporting  role as Ahab's mrs.  An opportunity for merriment is lost. markf

Gilian Anderson still looks good after all these years. I can remember her playing in X-files where at, one episode, she had a little pet dog called Queequeg.
Is it barbaric to say that I've never read Moby Dick? Not eaven the Dutch translated version.

Yes there were lots of Moby references in the X Files, and Star Trek of course.
Funnily enough I've read the book twice, plus an abbreviated kiddies version. And I can't recall any mention of Ahab’s Wife. Apparently there is a book called Stargazer by a different author that is all about her story.
I was just curious if any one was from the areas it was filmed in. I assume it's wrapped by now, but can't find any reference to it being aired or released yet.
It's a T.V thing so my hopes aren't too high, but I'll watch anything with Gillian Anderson in it. Even though I thought the film Straight heads was appalling!

I know some people are probably thinking what on earth is SP about Moby Dick?
Well apart from the fact that it's set in the 19th century, and features an enourmous super intelligent fictional white whale that represents far more than I can go into here. Not a lot really, but that wasn't exactly the point of the post. Yes it's fine if you haven't read it, but I do recommend it. And the non fictional event that inspired it is far darker than the actual book.

Thanks for replying anyway.

Indeed not Sir. I wouldn't argue that this post could do with spicing up a little however.

And with that in mind, Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the adorable nutter that is-

Miss Gillian Anderson!
