The evening atmosphere is always so festive with all the lights and smells.

I'm sure the Park and Ride is very expensive although, have never used it ourselves (Lincoln doesn't have a proper one like other big cities)

People are welcome to park near our house and taxi with us. All our neighbours seem to use the street as a free car park most of the time  Roll Eyes

Love the idea of going skating, although that throws up a whole quandry of wardobe issues.....

Wonderful! It will be fantastic to get a few people skating (and hopefully a few clapping, cheering and offering sympathy when we start sprawling about after a few too many Hot Chocolates Wink ... I do know what you mean about a wardrobe issue however. I have barely one suitable outfit to begin with, let alone a set of skating options. Think I may have to do a little work...

Incidentally Scott, if there is still space available in the coalshed, would you mind if I took up the offer? I'm happy to sleep next to the snorer as I'm well versed in sudden elbows and midnight pillow attacks. Smiley Please just let me know if there is anything you or your good lady require bringing (comestibles, beverages, eternal thanks, etc)..

Excellent, I shall come armed and ready! Now I just have to remember how to skate .. it appears voluminous skirts are required for a lady on ice, which may be an issue. Oh well, at least I'll have plenty of padding when the inevitable happens.

Will keep an eye out for any further information and best of luck in rounding up a few more willing participants. Mummm roasting chestnuts, hot chocolate, glittery lights, the gentle screaming of people sliding across the frozen lake of terror.... perfect Wink

ah well, we can partake of the inevitable together. I've never skated on real ice before - unless you count skidding down steep hill in the gutter last february.....

I'm fairly sure that counts Wink I have no such excuse, except for being old, stiff, unfit and extremely out of practise. I'm working on the principle that we'll look fantastic whilst standing still though.

We would like to come over and meet up at some point but alas we are working on the Saturday in Kettering at I9th Centurary Yuletide Event.

If anyone is up for a meet on the Thursday and evening do post on here. I could do with some xmas shopping I think.

Yours Lady E.

The market doesn't open until 4pm on the Thursday, plus I will be at work Sad

If people want to go ice skating we will need to book tickets in advance as it's very popular. Tickets haven't been released yet, but we need to consider confirming a date/ time Smiley

Ice and standing still sounds perfect, assuming there is much gin and a little cucumber with the ice

Is anyone else available for the Thursday?  We can make it and/or Saturday.  Let's hope one or the other or both transpire.
The Christmas Market is too good an opportunity to miss so let's get organised.

Kind regards,

Elisheva

I think the Major and I may come over on the Thursday afternoon, We would be happy to meet up with any other local steampunks for some food and drink to keep out the cold. We will be having a look around the market and enjoying the general ambiance of Lincoln and the festivities. Then retire to a eating house. If anyone wishes to join us please post here.
Yours,
Lady Elsie.

I'm still intending to come over - but as to which day I'm not sure. I *think* that I was supposed to be taking advantage of Scott's most generous coalshed offer ( Wink ) on the Friday night, and then doing the Saturday with everyone... however my travelling companion was negotiating with Scott directly and thus my information may be outdated.

So: I/we will be there at some point - more specific details will follow Smiley
