I wont know if the 27th works until closer to that date. but I can plan for it!

Elizabeths is a 40 minute drive for me. but a lovely place. As for davis county, did you have another place in mind?

I didn't have a specific place in mind...it's been years since lived in Bountiful, and Elzabeth's sounds lovely.  However, if things work out well, and we want to start having regular meets, the further North in Utah, the better for me, given the length of the drive.

There really isn't much in Davis county that I am aware of.  I live in Bountiful and really it's only fast food places here.  I don't know the rest of Davis county at all well. InTheDark, do you still want to meet on the 20th? on that particular day, Elizabeths would be quite convenient for me, because I will be near the area anyway, but if you know of somewhere else, I am open to suggestions.

Sure! the 20th can still work,

being that where I'm trying to work doesn't actually have a schedule for me... I won't know if there is an Issue till later. but knowing now gives me a better chance!

If up north works better for deseret, Historic 25th street in ogden has Quite a lot of neat stuff.

it even has a train station with a Steam Powered locomotive! (its a Museum piece now... but its a cool station!)

for the next few months I will be having transportation issues, due to the fact that I have to take my mother to work Saturday mornings, and we only have one car, and I will be coming from Murray. So, if its alright with both of you, would it be okay if we stuck with Elizabeths for now, since I already know where that is? my moms company is experiencing lay-offs and she will only be working there until early next year anyway, so at that time it would be easier to get else where for me. . .( I do rather like Ogden, just don't know the area and gas is quite pricey. . .)

That sounds good, you guys.

If all goes well, perhaps we can try for a meet in Ogden once the holidays are over.  I want to hear how things go!

Indeed. It is unfortunate that you will be unable to attend this time however.
Maybe though, eventually it could become a regular thing, if all goes well.
We'll see what happens I suppose!  Grin

And another plus for Union Station in Ogden, is they are willing to host events, last I checked!

I agree, dteigue, I'm hoping this will become a regular event!  Wink

I'm also going to be working to find more interest up here, in Idaho.  Craigslist, and various social sites are a start.  I'm suspicious that there are others out there who would identify as Steampunk, but are unaware of watering holes like this forum!  It would really be wonderful to someday have a small, but thriving subculture, with regularly held events, in the area.

Indeed, there are some people that I know with at least a little interest in Steampunk so I can only assume that there are others with even more interest. It would be nice to see that interest grow and develop into something bigger.

I am still planning on it! my Car is in the body shop, so I will have to borrow a relative's car. I have no idea what you look like or your name... so...

I'm Whitney,

I should be wearing a Hoodie that says ASYLUM on the back!

That was cool. Elizabeth's is great. We'll definitely have to do it again.
Sorry I wasn't much for conversation today. I was running on no sleep and too much caffeine!
It would be awesome if we could have more people next time. would probably help with the conversation  Grin

No worries man, i was running on NO sleep and NO caffeine!

it wasn't the most linear or productive of meetings. we mostly rambled in and out of vaguely defined topics.

Well, Mostly I rambled...

I will need to buy a Monster next time...

Well, it sounds like a pretty decent time, still, and something, anything, is a start!

I think it would be wonderful to figure out something for after the holidays.  It should be easier, too, next spring when the weather is nicer.  A picnic in the park would be a wonderful way to meet and discuss!

Indeed.  We should come up with a regular meeting place and time.  If it was a normal event, we could probably find more people interested in meeting up.  Always fun meeting new people with similar interests!

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about the snow.  On one hand, classes were canceled and I obtained extra time to do homework, but on the other hand, its cold. I am not particularly fond of cold. . . Hopefully this will be the worst storm of the season and the rest of winter wont be so bad.

Wonderful!

I joined as well.

As for the winter conditions, it's expected to be 2F plus windchill tonight up here.  I'm not used to this, particularly driving, so it's a bit of an adventure.

I also joined.

The weather here didn't end up being as bad as they said it was going to be and the snow is already melting, but classes are still canceled today anyway, so I'm not complaining!  Grin

weather permitting, would you two like to attempt to schedule another meet up?
Saturdays are still good with me, though Fridays would also work as long as the snow isn't too bad.
