Will you have a cloakroom this year? For those of us who don't want to carry umbrellas and coats around all night.

cloak room, well no we haven't planned on one. I will speak with the Big Boss and see what she says. Have had a rough day with the venue so I need to get over that first.

Well - we did have when the feature article on steampunk was on the website. It finished with a mention of the event and a link to tickets.

Hmmmm less then two days to go, I should probably start getting my outfit in order and get it made. Nothing beats last minute prep.

Well I started making piles of the things to take to steampump: - Master of ceremonies costume complete with top hat, goggles, notebook and time keeper. - Spare rocketeers costume with hat, goggles and gloves for folks to get photographed in if they wish. - Five sets of steampunk modded ex army headphones for sale. - Three hundred steampunk postcards to give away, with illustrations by Smaggers from the UK (promoting our new store). - Two A1 steampunk posters of the postcard art by Smaggers (certainly not for giving away, but for decoration). - Two hundred maduncle calling cards. - A bottle of good red and a glass. I think that is it so far...

I have calling cards to make, cravat to work on, suspender buttons to sew, boots to polish and hat to reshape. Already finished the gaiters and fixed the walking stick.
I sure there will be other things I will need to do as well. I have a device to make, if I have time.
Any word yet on whether we will have a cloakroom?

re: cloak room, unfortunately not this year. It is definitely a good idea and if we run the event again it's something we'll plan in to it from the start. At the moment general logistics are a priority and a heavy enough load. If you end up with valuable and heavy items that you need stored please find me and I have a space where I can secure the items which I can padlock - but it's not a general public cloak room, hint hint.
Best regards
Robert

Indeed, I was going to plan a fantastic outfit for Steampump, but just didn't get around to it. Fortunately, my wardrobe is already suitable enough. I just won't have goggles. Though, could anybody direct me to a store in Melbourne that sells mens gloves? Particularly leather ones, but not big chunky biker gloves? I don't know. Thanks.

For gloves - I would go to Smart Alec in Smith St Collingwood, slightly south of Gertrude St on the West side of the road.
Michael has a great range of gloves (and hats).
Tell him maduncle Cliff sent you!

Or try any store which sells equestrian accoutrement. They usually have slighly more hard wearing gloves which are still supple enough to leave some dexterity in the digits.

Last night was wonderful. Thanks a lot to Robert, Maduncle and everyone involved in setting up and running Steampunked. The quality of costuming was marvellous. The entertainment was delightful. The teas and scones were scrumptious. The atmosphere was .... steampunky! We took some photos with our little point-and-click. Sorry for the fuzziness due to poor flashwork. Sorontar

Was a good night. A pity I had to leave so early... but if I'd stuck around and copped another round of photography flashes I was going to wind up with problems.

'Twas a fantastic night, thanks so much to everyone involved. As with last year, I wish I didn't have to leave.

It was an excellent night, my thanks to all involved in arranging and running things. I managed to run into a few people I haven't seen much of for years, I think they are converts to steampunk now.

Ah you beat me to it sir. Yes they are great prints, and there is a fair smattering of BG members throughout the photos.

Um - no, I did take a shot at Joshua (with my slutty ray gun which was in every second photo) but not of Joshua. Here is one of my favourites of his shots. Very cool boys!
