I've made many moulds in the past using liquid latex but due to inactivity my latex went off, I picked up a small pot of Gedeo concentrated latex and I don't like it I made a rather poor mould due to not being able to get a smooth coating try as I might. It was a one off mould so no problem but I'd like to do better with the next one. Any advice?

liquid latex can usually be thinned with ammonia.  Unscented ammonia with no surfactants works best.
