Play! An evening of extraordinary maker musicians

On 3 September, Brighton is hosting its first Maker Faire – a festival of inventions and the hackers, makers and artists who create them. And I’m throwing what I hope will be the perfect after-show party. Featuring Thomas Truax, headliner for the evening, Jane Bom-Bane with her mechanical hats and Spacedog, my band of humans, theremin and robots. All these acts have featured at Steampunk events in London and Brighton, including White Mischief and the Tusk & Garter - and there are many more delights on offer. Do come!

This event is free to Maker Faire exhibitors and crew – do send an email to wearespacedog [at] gmail [dot] com to let us know you’re coming so we can keep an eye on numbers. Thanks!

Live music from Thomas Truax, Spacedog, Jane Bom-Bane, Nick Pynn and the Sawchestra at the perfect after-show party for Brighton’s first Maker Faire. All welcome!

For one night only, the Brunswick will be brimming with mechanical curiosities: a hornicator, theremin playing doll, coconut ukelele, robotic bell tree, bicycle wheel rhythm machine, mechanical hats and musical saws. Everyone has been designed and built by some of the finest and most entertaining maker-musicians. Enjoy some astounding live performances. And join in with the Sawchestra as they use toy instruments to create a live soundtrack to a classic silent film. The perfect soirée for Brighton’s first Maker Faire.

There will be music running throughout the evening, in the dedicated music room right next to the bar. So come along, grab a drink, enjoy some delicious pub food, socialise with fellow Maker Faire participants and drop into the live entertainment.

The Brunswick Pub and Theatre is in Holland Road on the border of Brighton and Hove. It’s a short bus ride or a 20 minute-walk from the Dome, home of the Maker Faire. MAP

You can also find out more about the Maker Faire here. It's a free daytime event, suitable for all the family and it's brimming with curious machines and their makers.

Thanks to Tamsin Chapman for the photo of Thomas Truax.
