Wow been a while since I've been on BG and since then I've started up Mad Calamity Photos and during the 4th of July weekend at Comic-Con we've had ourselves a mini photoshoot with the steampunks gathered there. http://madcalamity.zenfolio.com/p211603422Thank you for posting a link to this portrait collection. Looking through the variety was most fun. It certainly helped me get an idea of what to add to the outfit I'm gathering at the moment. I'll post pics when I'm done... and buy a new camera.

I've got my fair share of props too, but being a re-enactor, and growing up around an antique store certainly has its advantages in this fandom!
and, in the spirit of things, this picture was taken by setting the camera atop my antique, crank telephone...

Though I had no idea what steampunk was at the time, I quickly did up this costume for a pirate themed sweet 16 I went to several years ago and just ame upon the pics. While not completely steampunk, I think it fits a bit. In all, these are mostly clothes I never wore otherwise. Mostly stuff from hot topic that was gifted to me. For instance, the jacket was a "My Chemical Romance" copy if I remember correctly, the pants are pinstriped skinny jeans (I don't wear skinny jeans...ever) and the vest was also a pinstriped hot topic vest, although I did wear that from time to time. Paired with a plain white shirt, Civil War cartridge case, WWII MKVII gas mask bag, Civil War cavalry sabre, and engineer boots. My hair hasn't been this long in a while, not have my sideburns for that matter.

It totally works. But what sells it for me is the second pic...the chops and the steely gaze? Fabulous.

Greaser, LOVE the look! Very...*thinking of the best word*...rakish, I think. In the good, sexy pirate way. It makes me think Regency for some reason.

This is my Yes yes, I know they are sharpies, but IMAGINE they are paintbrushes and a feather pen! This is powered by: the Self Automated Motor, or SAM, shown here (which I hope to convert into metal tubing that is going over my shoulders) is using steam that is created by: Springs on the souls of my slacks, that cause friction, and boil the water in the black spheroids... (yes those are wheels for chairs LOL )
