Ah hell, saving this for the Asylum, but just want to share with you. Needs some tweaking with the bandolier, and a lanyard for the pistol, but basically it's done. Behold! The Steampunk Shock Trooper! That's a great outfit, Major.

Thanks! Can't help thinking it needs a BFG. Unfortunately, time has got the better of me, so it will have to be for next year now.

That shock trooper outfit is great! I reminds me of some of Greg Broadmore's more recent Doctor Grordbort's illustrations, brought to life.

The Steampunk Shock Trooper! The perfect accessory for this will me a mop. Hand it to the person who has just soiled the room after seeing you enter (that was my reaction to pikkie number 2) Absolutely brilliant. Scary photo time; what I'm planning on wearing to the ball, as you can see I just loath 'love' posing for photographs Mr Bastable, i must compliment you on your attire, especially that wonderful, full cravat. It sets off the ensemble and draws the eye into it.

Never in life, my dear Captain! For me, at least, anything anywhere occurring from the late Napoleonic to the end of WWI can be steampunked. Continental boundaries, even planetary boundaries, do not enter the equation, except as to style.
Glad to hear it! They shoot people for less in the steampunk Republic of Texas. They just plain shoot people in the SRT.....

Behold! The Steampunk Shock Trooper! Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'm not sure if your familiar with the recent comicbook series Victorian Undead, (perhaps better termed Sherlock Holmes vs. Zombie Moriarty), but your costume is the spitting image of the Zombie hunting troopers in the comic book. All you need to add is a heavy cavalry saber. Well done, sir.

It was built by Dusza Beben.. maybe you could PM him for more pics? I'll google some more.. I just know there will be more pics of it floating around the forum.. stay tuned!

Well, I finally did it, I went to work somewhat steampunk'd. What supprised me was no one batted an eyelid lol! Annoyingly I'd left my goggles at home this morning in my rush out of the house, so had to make do with my oakley sunglasses, but I think they went ok.

Nicely done, sir. You look very smooth, and with the sunglasses the outfit has a sort of 'Steampunk Matrix' look to it.
Probably not intentional, but with the open vest and baggy trousers, your outfit has a very Middle-eastern turn- of- the- century feel to it. Perhaps you might think about accesorising with a turban or a black fez??
Carry on!!

Thank you Mr Hathaway! The open vest isn't intentional, it's actually because I can't find mine so I *ahem* borrowed the one belonging to my good lady, who is a much smaller size than me. Though I do like the idea of a black turban or shemagh, though that will need my usual goggles rather than the sunglasses I think. The original idea was something along the lines of an all black version of Arthur from Inception, but I just love those pinstripe trousers too much.
