Yes! I've actually done something productive today . I converted the outside light from a normal switch to a timer circuit! Yay, go me Now I can come home to the outside light illuminating the steps and courtyard (I live in a mews, don'tcha know), without needing to leave the light on all evening. Gareth.

Today I made pork pies. First time I have tried this. I still have a long way to go before I can call myself a pie-pro, but I think they turned out pretty well. For a first try anyway. If nothing else, they are quite tasty Sorry about the crappy photos. Food photography is just one of those things that are too boring for me to care about, so quick snapshots will have to do.

As the seismometer instrument is in the post I have used the time to build a website with which to share the results. The hope is to have a "live" page* that updates hourly with the instrument data, alongside a gallery of instrument captures. A start has been made here: Hopefully this may prove interesting to our UK and world members. M. *Still working this one out. I gather I need an FTP client to regularly upload a saved image to an online file, and then some device to forward this to a page on the site. If anyone can enlighten me on how to accomplish this, I'd be most grateful.

I made some calls about our washing machine, that`s on the verge of breaking down. They`re hopefully coming to fix it this week. I also e-mailed some people. Plus I spend 4,5 hours travelling to get back home from my parents` place. Spend most of that time just thinking through things, which I suppose is productive in it`s own way. Just too bad I was ignoring all of my lack-of-future-plans-problems, and was focussing on Sherlock, and Mario `64 (Nintendo DS) instead. I`ve also set up some events on Facebook, that I promised people I`d set up last week. Woops.
Now I just have an entire to-do-list left to work through )=

Two weeks worth of post-tour dirty washing. Dirt, sweat, blood, mud, dirty snow and road salt all gone. Clean socks are vastly underrated.

Finally did some work on my thesis woohoo!
I have almost got a second chapter I can be proud of, just need to scan in some old photographs/maps/drawings
The first chapter however is still requiring work. If I write 500 words of it today I'm going to bake cookies. So watch this space =P

Worked with my Point-and-Shoot, to get it to take GOOD pictures. They still ain't as nice as my DSLR (but that's to be expected, I suppose).
I've also decided that the BEST way to start with my sodas is to buy apple juice and carbonate it, rather than MAKE my own apple juice and carbonate it.

Went over to the internship place for an introduction day, where I had some discussions with the people there. Found out loads about who will be helping me there, when the contracts will be arranged, when I have to start, what I have to do, what the park looks like and how it came to be, all that kind of stuff.
I also managed to get enough contacts that I got a ride back to the train station today, and I probably have a ride all the way to the internship itself on tuesday, and possibly from the station there to the park every day from then on (plus travelling buddies).
On top of that, I found out some possible things I might apply for for post-graduation. I won`t say too much just yet, to anyone really, but if this one actually does work out (contrary to just about everything else I try), things might get all kinds of exciting and awesome.

Productivity beckons.... not only am I plannign no doing some more work on my HMS Barham but the mailman this morning delivered the Airfix 4F I bought a few days ago. So as soon as my parents go out for the afternoon I'm going to go and bang around in the loft for who-knows-how-long looking for my stash of old Railway Modeller magazines, simply to get my hands on one drawing....

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

I went through a folder full of old magazine articles this morning, taking out the ones I'm not that interested in anymore and putting the others into some semblance of order (namely, all the magazines collated and put into chronological order). Took an absolute age but was worth it!

Finally made a slow start on first leather project: shoulder bag in dark brown and black. I got two hides when we were in the USA in the summer and had hoped Santa would oblige with the requisite tools but it seems I submitted my 'good girl' list too late so had to get my own from the place in Newcastle.
However I dont have a very good instruction book despite buying the one they reccommended. Can anyone point me at a good website for a total newbie?

Bought an antique wooden trunk, and am old leather suitcase...and an old chinese chest of drawers. Spending money is easy, but it feels productive. Right - now on to making fins for the dirigible!
