I made nutella cupcakes and a raisin-and-bisciut (that's cookie for any americans) chocolate fridge cake. Tomorrow, once the fridge cake has set, I'll slice it up into little bits, pile it up in a little peaked pile, and then dust it with icing sugar to make it look like a snowy mountain. I may even find some mini trees to decorate it with. I don't know who's going to eat it, as everyone in this house seems to be on a diet. Anyone want to come over for tea?

Had the night off from work, and spent most of it lounging around, not doing much of anything. Once morning arrived, I went to the bank, and ordered new checks. Then I went to the craft shop, picked up some paints. After that I went to the pet supply store and bought a new scratching post. While there, I was accosted by a small dog who needed to be trained not to jump on people. As I was leaving the pet supply place, I felt a sharp pain on the top of my foot, looked down and picked off a rather large flea. Frigging mutt. Came home, made some Jambalaya to take to work with me for lunch, then went back to lounging around. All in all, far more productive than I like to be on my days off.

Last night I decided that I needed to spend a little time away from S. We both need to get our lives in order, even if it is for a week or so.
This morning, I made myself an omelet and went for a walk. Now I'm off to collect eighteen grand. Next week, I start wrapping up so I can switch locations, so I need to focus.
But I miss him and regret it already. Damn it.

Last night I took a deerhide out of the freezer I keep skins in, to defrost so I could flesh, wash and pickle it today ready to begin tanning. It was still half frozen! So I`ve put it somewhere safe from animals and folks to finish defrosting and will get to it tomorrow. So bereft of deerhide tanning, I worked a sheepskin strung onto a stretching frame to make it soft. I also gathered all I need for tomorrow, when I will bake bread and scones, pickle beetroot, make ham and lentil soup for the freezer, freeze spinach and other veg from the garden and make apple pie for supper. As well as that, I worked some more on a buffalo hide and deerhide sporran I`m making. And went to fetch peat for the fire for over the weekend. Last night I mistakenly decided not to light the fire since it had been a sunny day. Come nightfall we were pretty cold! And...I gave in and bought midge hoods. I don`t care how silly they look, I`m tired of looking like a Black Death victim because the little bugg...erm, creatures...decide my face and arms are a tasty midge snack. If anyone has a genuine midge deterrent, please share...tried them all, nothing seems to work so I`m reduced to walking around wearing what looks like an all-over net curtain......

My life saver was joining the corset makers group on Live Journal, someone from here recommended it. I used the Simplicity 9769 pattern, but with a lot of adjustments thanks to a spreadsheet someone on LJ made - that pattern runs REALLY large... I've heard good things about the Laughing Moon patterns as easy to fit and easy to follow..

Well, I've finally finished re-pointing the back wall of our shed and rendering the walls in the yard. All in time for the winter. Hope it survives this year.

Personally I haven't done anything I would consider productive for a few weeks. I had surgery for cubital tunnel syndrome and 'trigger thumb' on 25th August 2010 so was a bit stressed before and unable to do anything since (haven't had any information from doctors/surgeon) I've found more online today than I knew previously. Was told to look out for discharge, swelling or weeping but with over an inch thick padding couldn't see a damn thing so I unwrapped elbow to take a look. Took a pic because I could. Incision is about 3"~4" but dressing is stuck down really good so I didn't remove it. All wrapped up again now. Watched a couple of video's on surgery, wish I hadn't Too much information? I'm bored and can't do much else but annoy people online

I've had the Toreador song going round my head for 3 days so when classic FM played it this morning I sang it full blast and embarrassed some passers by. Not very productive but I enjoyed it

I got my hubby's waistcoat partially done, then made an epic amount of gnocchi, froze most of it and used the rest of it as tater tots to go with the homemade corn dogs that I also made..Now I'm sitting very still drinking hard cider...

Ooh, I love gnocchi! Yesterday I baked a huge amount of goodies, some to eat and some for the freezer, and defrosted yet more hides to flesh and tan. I was going to work outdoors in the garden today but we have yet more strong almost gale force winds (the price of living here) so can`t garden and will be stuck in the barn working hides, which is productive but I`d rather have been gardening. And, I hope it`s also productive to wish everyone a very good day today.

I modelled the back wall of my captain's cabin in Maya for my animation assignment. It looks good, but the fact that I had to delete all my rafters and fix a mysterious hole in the middle window makes me feel like it's two steps forward, seven steps back.

Found out that setting Wii at almost ceiling level allows it to connect to internet for update. Found out how to get it connected and I'm 'typing' this from Wii box. Laptop is much faster but this doesn't aggravate my carpal tunnel

We got started on the wood splitting routine for this years supply. I'm hoping for 5 or 6 cords from the pile of tree bits. Some of those rounds are a bit huge (30" and 200+ pounds DRY!) - a little harsh on the aging log splitter (not me, the hydraulic one). Also made two huge batches of pesto from the ever widening basil patch (super yeah). Went to the football game at Missoula - got evacuated from the stadium due to lightning (good thing too for the opposing team as they were being systematically destroyed). Good call too - wet metal seats, lightning strikes hitting the nearby hillside! Had the kids and g-kids over for a bbq (kinda cold and dreary though) to celebrate the oldest's first day of school. Tonight - more wood splitting / stacking! Then it'll be off to canning the tomatoes (if there are any left!), making salsa from the peppers and harvesting - drying the assorted herbs (no, not that kind ). Definitely feeling like Old Man Winter's blowing through the trees.

i rolled around in my yard with my dogs. Nothing gets better than that.
oh, and I had a big slice of cheesecake.
I miss my friend's dogs, he had a Dobermann and a little terrier, and playing with the Dobermann was an experience, I knew well enough that if she knew I was not her Master's friend I was in trubble. But as friends she was a marvellous creature. I drew her in pencil and gave the original to my friend.

Day three of the gales. The past couple of days were quite productive though...indoors, lots of cooking and baking...bread, scones, curds, pickling beetroot etc. Today will be much the same since it`s too hard to work outdoors in these winds. I still must tan the hides in the barn, which is becoming a risky business....the minute the barn door opens, gusts blow in and try to raise the roof. So the other half comes out with me and leans against the door on the inside to stop it blowing in (which it did when I worked alone) so to keep the roof on whilst I hurriedly tan sheep and deerhides. The afternoons are also spent productively...watching old movies... so far Premature Burial with Ray Milland, the new Robin Hood film (didn`t really like it, nothing like the Hood stories!), and a few Mario Bava films, fitting for a dark, stormy afternoon. Today it`ll probably be Black Sunday, with Barbara Steele.

I did a few pages of notes/sketches for a new RP idea I've been kicking about the ol'noggin. Massive airships, (carriers, dreadnoughts, cruisers, corvettes) ducted fan aircraft of all types (fighters, bombers, transports). competing empires (British, Ottoman, Russian, Holy Roman, Mongol, etc.etc,,,) and possible space travel set in an alternate 1960s.

So far I have edited one UV map for our game Quaintrellicide (thing is looking awesome, and is quite steampunk), and made an attempt to get my Maya scene compatible with the uni computers. I'll find out if that worked this evening
