Got most of the electrical problems sorted on my car. Everything sort-of works, but I need to buy two replacement switches (headlights and hazard lights). I disassembled and cleaned up the old switches, but they are still pretty flaky - the hazard lights tend to only flash on one side of the car... either side, rarely both... Unfortunately I will have to order some replacement parts, as the originals are no longer made or available. And to top it off, it's going to cost me £25. For two plastic rocker switches... Oh, and I'll need to replace the water pump as it's leaking quite badly. Lost a litre of water in only 2 miles... I'll fill the radiator before I take the car in for the MOT, and I'll book it in then with the garage to replace the pump. No way I'm doing that one - horrible job to do on a Mini ! Meh, at least I have the issues sorted with the wiring though. Everything else seems to be OK to get through the MOT test, waterpump shouldn't be an issue as such. Productive - yes. Disheartening...OH YES. SS

Baked cupcakes to take with me when I get called in to work this afternoon/evening. Don't know how long we'll be there, but I'm going prepared!

Sorted out ALL the electrical problems on my car! I rebuilt the switches internally with new contacts (cheaper and quicker than getting new ones...), sorted out the corrosion around internals of the fuse box and in-line fuses under the scuttle panel, repaired some damaged and corroded wiring, sorted out some issues with connections on various bulb fittings (corrosion, dirt / loose connections), and fully tested all the electrical gear to make sure it all works as it should. I also managed to temporarily plug the leaky water pump with my own DIY blend of "radiator sealer" (finely ground Iron Oxide powder - rust basically... ), It'll last until I can get the car booked in to have the pump replaced. Only job still remaining is to get the driver side window mechanism derusted and bodged up. Both sides are shot, so these will be replaced later also. As it stands, the car is basically fit for the MOT test on Wednesday, which is good as I feared I would have to SORN it until I got the probems fixed. SS

Completed another drawing for my portfolio, ordered the final part for my stunningly-long-in-the-tooth model steam launch (eight years, one rebuild, one complete starting-over-again and counting!) and am contemplating a walk later.

Today I have sewn back all the various buttons that have habitually popped off my numerous trousers, jackets and coats. I have been putting this off for I don't know how long. 26 buttons done. 7 items I can now wear again. I think I've earned a nice cold beer.

Well, we have organized our organizing box for crafty supplies Does almost buying a corset and researching how to repurpose some clothing count as being productive?

Went to the gym, went swimming, then opened a new checking/savings account after having the lug nuts on our tires checked to make sure they were tight enough. Then priced a couple strawberry flats of paperbacks! Most excited about the swimming!

I have very productively decided that from now on, I will not start a project until I have actually finished one. I am also very productively disregarding the fact that I've made this decision a hundred times before. I really mean it this time.

Aah, yes, but; sometimes it pays to have more than one project on the go; it stops you getting bogged down in the minutae of just the one project (says the person with ten or more on the go or at various stages of planning!)

Bogged down you say? I say that is the time for a nice brandy, a smoke and a comfy chair to put those pesky details in perspective.

Only ten? Such luxury! Seriously though, the reason I don't finish them is because I keep getting sidetracked and starting something else. I have the attention span of a gnat.

Lol, I've just come home from shopping 2 Leather coats for 9.99 each, a bunch of tops, capri's and skirts, many beads/findings, some new material, and a brand new leather awl and thread. Now to start some projects On another note, the better half said he'd dress up and go with me to an event, if one comes here. I didn't think he'd like this, but he's warming up to it all, as long as I don't go overboard on him

Yes, I'm on the Island. I'll need that much time to get everything done though I might wear some of what I already had to a gig friends are doing next month. It's at a legion, so I can't go too wild, one way or the other. I do plan on wearing a corset shirt I got from Spencer's a long time ago. It finally fits me like a corsety type top should. For you---ewww...I hate those

Sewed up the majority of my utility kilt today! All that is left now is ironing in the box pleats, tapering the fell, sewing on the waistband, and sewing up the pockets and belt-loops. I'm hoping to be able to finish it up tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll actually be able to...

Productive today? maybe a little. BUT ... tomorrow I shall perform my civic duty and serve as the role of head bartender for the community brewfest. There will be 45 taps of the finest that Montana, Washington and Idaho has to offer. 700 gallons of beer. poor me.

700 gallons of beer. poor me. I can hear your liver wince from here... Productive...not so much, but have been sorting out some stuff for the hut demolishion at my Mother's place tomorrow. Me and a few friends (well me and Cris, the girls are going to be drinking wine and "directing" us...) are doing the work, and having something of a party at the same time. At least we will have plenty of wood to burn in the fire pit I just made from an old tumble dryer drum... Setting up some laptops and speakers, plus a projector. So outdoor music and entertainment while taking the hut down, and a film or two when it gets darker later. It's a big garden, so we won't be disturbing anyone. Also taking a large car battery to run the camping cooler (heh, modified to use a 127W peltier cooler...) for the beers, and to power the amp for the music. Battery should be good for about 8 hours until flat (it's a spare so not bothered about cycling a car battery). I might possibly take a few solar panels to keep the battery going for a little longer. should be a good time! SS

Sprayed gloss coat on the walking stick I'm making for my daughter. Thanks to the weather, I ended up doing it inside my apartment in front of an open window with a fan blowing out, but at least it's done, and it doesn't stink too badly in here. Once that's dry, I can put on the handle (a chrome cabinet knob) on the top, a furniture-leg cap on the bottom, and it's done. It'll be a nice stick, in spite of the bright neon turquoise color she insisted on.

Result = Quite a few tears, a big hug and groped in appreciation. Apparently I'm the only one who has remembered.

Somewhat productive and pretty damn impressive. I have preparing the meat for a birthday cookout in the woods tomorrow. I'm mainly in charge of marinating stuff. Yesterday, the person who's birthday it is, asked me if I would make marinade that I made at a LARP event in 2006. Apparently it was good enough for her to remember it as the highlight of that week, 6 years later. Naturally I said yes. Here is the problem. I made that marinade once 6 years ago and I never measure anything when cooking. It was improvised from what I had and what I could find in the woods. To make matters worse, I never actually tasted the finished meat. So today I have been trying to recreate it, based only on what I remember of the smell. And I'm pretty sure I managed to do it. In my own (not so) humble opinion, that is pretty damn impressive
