Sewing an outfit for an upcoming gathering and also dropped off a package of homemade yummies at my place of employment.  I must admit that I did not make the homemade goodies, I simply had taken home over the holiday weekend what had been delivered to the office at the close of the day Friday and was returning them today.  (There may or may not be tiny nasty pests in the office.  No need to give them snacks.)

I think I have made my steampunk boots wearable. Knee higfh leather riding boots with my addition of full leg laces and heavy straops and buckles, they nearly crippled me when I first wore them for any length of time. My left big toe hated the narrow foot.

I have succeeded in stretching the foot, and the boots are at least tolerably comfortable- there will be bedding in due to my mods, and a few details to alter.

I drove my sister down to her college campus (and bought her lunch) so she could use the computer lab there to re-touch (and in some cases restore) over 360 photos of me from infancy through high-school.  Although I myself was not very productive (I spent the entire day on this forum), my sister was productive enough for the both of us (she finished all of the photo editing in one day...wow...).

Blessed out Blue Microphone Tech Support (politely, of course).  Was finally able to find a driver that WORKS for the webcam, but still no gain adjustment.

Basically, I have to invest in new lighting-which is not a major issue-I had planned to-but the fact that the damn camera is FORCING my hand on this is kinda lame.

Found and ordered the cables I need to hook my newly rebuild PC up to the TV and proper sound. With a little luck, they should arrive tomorrow.

Good show! ... post pictures of the completed setup.  Is your setup fully digital (hdmi + toslink or coax)?

(I really enjoy mine ...)

My productive bits are the completion of design for a carousel like structure (for real horses instead of the carved wood ones!)

It will be via HDMI. For the moment, I will be running sound that way as well and using the TVs internal speakers. I really should hook it up to the surround sound system, but I dont think I will bother with that right now (to lazy to put up the speakers  Embarrassed).

A picture of the complete setup, might be difficult, as there will be some 5 metres of cable between the PC and the TV.

The really cool thing will be photographing tethered with the larger screen  Smiley

You will really love it for your photography!

For mine, I ran out of HDMI inputs on the TV (  Shocked ), so it's a 2 meter analog cable ... nice quality picture though at 768x1366.  All else runs to the surround receiver via digital coaxial (our setup is for desktop publishing and sound recording)

I have no doubt of that. I have used the TV for tethered shooting before (via the labtop). The desktop will simply be a permanent setup.

Today, I cleaned the kitchen, and got all the files from my Very Annoying Teacher necessary for e-mailing class exam this wednesday and scrolled through previous assignments for a bit (not too much, before I get too annoyed again Wink  ).

Now I should just write one or two more speeches, and study some kanji and I`m done for the day!

Wonderfull work Mr. Harrison. Scratch build as in, build from salvaged locomotives or as in, used alternative components?

For me, I finished my scanner camera!

Scratchbuilt as in built from scrap, lying-around or cheaply-found materials around a proprietary chassis.  Took around a month to build it- all recorded/ recounted here.

Came up with this idea for setting rivets and punching holes in leather. The clamp is a 'Boiler clamp' made by a local company I used to work for.....chances are the paint on the clamp was my own doing maybe twenty years ago! I visited the company (G&J Hall ltd., Sheffield, maker of taps dies and special drills) and asked the commercial Manager if he had any boiler clamps left in stock. He took me downstairs to the Warehouse and showed me what was left, I picked this one for the best action on the thread- these things have been kicking around for many years.......

And he gave it me, gratis, saying this section is going for scrap, they aren't worth moving when we shift premises.

Oh and the Whisky container in the background is my small rubbish bin, these containers are far too useful and decorative to throw away.

Scale: the clamp has about a five inch throat, the handle of the clamp is about a foot off the board. I think this set up should be strong enough- and almost silent- important when I live in a first flor flat. It means I can punch holes any time of day or night.

I finished writing all of the speeches. Now I just have to remember them, record them, burn them on DVD and hand that in. But still, writing them was definitely the most work.

I`m now actually studying kanji for the first time in WEEKS. I`m failing horribly, but it feels good to study them again anyway. I missed them.

I started work on my homemade sodie-pops.  I tell ya what-making apple juice is no small task!  And what to do with the leftover apple SAUCE?

CAN IT!  That's what!  My first time doing this extensive of a project in the kitchen...  But, it's turning out quite tasty so far!  I just have to perfect my reactionary forced carbonation system (vinegar and baking soda in one bottle, tube feeds the gasses to the beverage being carbonated).

I SHOULD have the first test product by next weekend.

Unless I can get some cheap dry ice...

Finally finished installing the software and laying the cable runs for my seismic station. The seismometer itself is currently in transit from the states - USPS please heed the "fragile" warnings!

It'll need calibrating when it gets here, but I should have the station running by the end of the month. Sensitive enough to detect the M 1.0 - 3.5 events that occur locally, and with sufficient resolution to record M6.0+ events globally.

Yes, I'll be watching earthquakes in the man shed. We've all got to have hobbies.

Incidentally, I'll need to give the station a reference identity when adding it to the the network. BGS? Brass Goggles Seismometer?

So far I've written some of my blog in preparation for posting tomorrow, not as much as I should be doing but done nonetheless.  I decided to return to the forum to procrastinate for a bit before getting to work on sanding my gun.  (Sorely tempted to add 'if you know what I mean', but no I really am sanding a gun).

BGS also stands for British Geological Survey so I'm sure there will be already by a seismometer called that unfortunately.

I'm rubbish with names or i'd suggest a suitable steampunk alternative. I'm sure somwone else on here will think of something though.
