Dissembled the last of the furniture (bed and wardrobe). With the help of friends we brought everything to the new owner, a friend of mine. My flat is almost empty now, over the next week we'll wrap up everything there and then I just have to wait another two weeks and I'll be off...

It's been a bit of a productive weekend. I've been sorting lots of stuff for my medieval reenactment, getting organised now rather than panicking next march. So, from the top! Sewed brass aglets onto leather ties, and used them to replace the ones on a doublet I bought. Cleaned the oil + grease off a new buckler. Put a tie around a sallet to keep the visor up. Oiled my longbows with linseed oil. Cleaned the muck off my arrows. Sourced lettering, material and linen thread to do this to a new padded jack I bought recently. Drew a design and lettering, then did some pyrography on the base of a bowl, for a friend who's archery needs practice. Various little jobs, like checking stuff was ok, replacing little ties, cleaning and polishing bits and bobs, etc. Did a lot of reading about medieval mercenaries in Italy, the condottiere. Quite therapeutic really.

Thought I'd post now; was too tired yesterday. Three large loads of clothes washed, dried and put away. Replaced the shop light/fixture over the washer/dryer. Got the week's food shopping done. Swept off the debris on the deck after removing the rusted-out gutters. Cleaned up the house, er, the cat's house and emptied the trash.

Practiced "Rocky Road to Dublin," finally am able to go through each line without a pause. Now if I can just remember the dang thing and keep my guitar playing up to speed, I'll be set. Back to getting my singing ready to do "Fields of Athenry" tonight. No mics, so it's going to be fun. At least I'm only doing one song, unless my arm gets twisted to play some other stuff.

Finished up my new barn. Put on a standing seam metal roof yesterday. Today put up the gutters and cleaned up. Still a little bit of trim to do, but no hurry on that. Now I have a place for the tractor and other implements to finally get them out of the weather. Also a good place to store some of the junk I collect.

Patched my favourite old leather jeans- pics did not come out right so I'll have another go in daylight. Good gear is worth mending- and of course you can get away with anything in leather- patch an ordinary pair of trousers you look like a scarecrow. A friend sold them me for £5 because the stiching in the seat has come undone, well thinks I to myself, that can be fixed.....I once found a pair of biker's leather jeans that had been thrown out, dumped on the ground near my flat! There was nothing wrong with them beyond needing cleaning, it's amazing what some people throw away.
One day I will make a pair of trousers from scratch. I've done extensive rebuilds, but to start with a piece of goatskin and end up with a pair of trousers, now that would be fun.....

COR BLIMEY, it's not everyday that I get to correct the BRITISH MUSEUM. I'm Well Chuffed Well done, you must tell us what it was? It was a Sri Lankan mask used in Kolam Dances (a sort of historical/mythological play) of a soldier character , labeled as a Sanni Mask used in healing rituals Dear Mr Lowery,
I am writing in response to your comments regarding an object in the British Museum’s collections. The Sri Lankan Kolam mask you refer to (registration number As1927,0108.1) is indeed depicting an injured soldier with leeches on his face and I have amended our computer records accordingly.
We are constantly updating our online records to improve the information we provide and feedback such as yours is immensely helpful and gratefully received.
With many thanks Strange the way weird snippets of information you never thought you'd need suddenly come in useful

Well done. I am mightily impressed that you were able to provide better information than the towering god of knowledge that is the BM. I am in awe.
I had a productive day (at least it counts as today because it was after midnight), I cleaned the kitchen, the bathroom, put a load of washing on, hand washed a load of stuff (I hate handwashing so it tends to build up), put away all my clean clothes and located my bedroom floor under the avalanche of papers/books etc. Was very pleased with myself and also very tired- so I overslept this morning =[ Therefore I missed the bus and was a bit late to my lecture- only to discover that my lecturer was going to be even later than I was =] (thank god for traffic on the M1!)
Also having a productive day because all the lectures this morning were explaining theories about spatial analysis on archaeological sites (which I understand) rather than using software to perform these things (which I always struggle to understand). It's nice not to feel like a complete moron for once!

I made a steam-lolita skirt. I'm currently going to work on a second skirt (lolita, not quite as steamy). That's enough productivity to warrant stuffing myself silly at the family supper tonight, I think.

Vaguely productive!
Found a reputable 3d printer who doesn't have all sorts of 'You design it, we print it, we retain all rights on the product' stuff built into their contracts, had a natter with the local large model shop who've given me a few pointers and I've done all sorts of costings and general brow creasing - Just a few more designs and it'll be time to bankrupt myself as a garage kit creator! ('cept with less boobage and more steampunk).
Also, tidied the house.

I finished and bound my 19 page technical report on the geology of the Wessex basin today (Summary: There are lots of rocks. There are red rocks and white rocks, but mostly grey rocks. Lots and lots of grey rocks.). Then I had a four hour shift down the mine, mapping joint surfaces to determin what supports we need to put along the new drive currently being blasted. Fortunately it's in granite, so we won't need much. Also helped haul and fit some new ventilation trunking on the sublevel, another task almost done.
Muddy and wet work, but good to see it done. M.

Gave opening speech for Glasgow launch of 16 days of Action Against Violence Against Women, now in its 21st year worldwide. Followed by making a fool of myself trying to do zumba (still not sure what it is/was) dancey-exercisey stuff whilst dressed in my new ankle length Downton Abbey suit (see the what are yoiu sewing thred for more info) and taking part in an active workshop on the interactions between voice and movement.
Then battled through the howling rain and wind to the Tallship Glenlee's christmas fair to help at the Sea Cadets stall.

Completed my tax forms (sob), completed the washing/drying/ironing and installed a curtain rail at my my wife's new boss's house! Didn't manage to change the oil and filters in the eldest's car because of the rain (hence the indoor list above) but it did pass it's MoT yesterday.

Gave a talk tonight at the British Computer Society which went pretty well I think. Then had far too many beers with old friends. Meandered back in the general direction of Waterloo Station, and stopped half way across Hungerford bridge to admire the view. I must have stood there on my own for 20 minutes - probably people thought I was going to jump. I live in London, work in London, and yet it's easy to forget why I love London so much. It's good to be reminded.
