Walked 5 miles in just under 2 hours.  Would have walked more, but forgot to pack a lunch!

Busy day so far:

Sorted my caving kit from the weekend's n00b bashing!

Modified my hoodie (sewed up the annoying side pockets and unpicked the top/restitched it) to make a "kangaroo Pocket" - that way I can keep all kinds of useful tat in it without it all falling out!

Draught proofed the front door - coz apparently we're in for another bad winter (I blame global warning and genitally modified food!)

Started my first (in about 20 years) batch of Marrow Rum for under a fiver!!

Now just to re-nail the felt on the shed roof, put the skanky clothes in the wash and do the dishes!!

Shhh.. not too loud, or Cthulhu gets jealous. He's already green with envy, poor little bugger....

Got up at 6 AM, went to the gym before work, had a good run, weights, and shower. Then to work, took a few calls, helped one of our developers test the system he's been working on. (It seems to inexplicably think it's 1917 sometimes, which is forgivable in my opinion, but not so useful for our clients.) After work, I'm off to pick up hair dye, and then to a Philosophy Society lecture on Time Travel, by the professor who was my favourite while I was still a student. He gave lectures dressed in full steampunk regalia. Smiley

Then back to home for some home-made veggie burgers, knitting, and well-deserved sleep!

Ho Yus!!

Completely cleaned the house (well 1 bedroom flat), moved all the caving cludge into the sheds along with the tools and so forth, sorted out where my best beloveds things are going to live (as she's sold her house and has temporally moved in with me, whilst her house purchase goes through) and we're offski to meet with friends later for a wee beverage or three! - oh and the cat's decided to leave the security of the bedroom and join us in the lounge!

Woke up, fought off the slight hangover, sat down, started watching a documentary on the Spanish Civil War while responding to questions and writing a letter.  I cannot wait till Saturday I am sick of desk work.

fixed car alarm, got a bicycle helmet (for some reason, the pith helmet didn't pass muster), and finally found some bar stock to make a sgian dubh (long story).

Handed in the Event Management report, checked some first years` homework, ate cake.

I don`t suppose re-dyeing my hair counts as productive, right?  The hair dye I used 2 or 3 weeks ago was already fading insanely, so me and a housemate bought a different brand today.

Dissembled some furniture, packed boxes for the move.
When I think about it, one year ago I was doing exactly the same. Back then I thought, I have to live here for at least five years, if only because I hate moving so much.
Life is strange sometimes.

Backed up a few Gb of photos and upgraded my OS to Ubuntu 11.10 (from 11.04).
So far, the move from Natty to Oneiric has been smooth and everything seems to be working as it should  Smiley

I added the barbettes, the anchors, the breakwater, the mainmast and a deckhouse to my 1/600 scratchbuild of the WWII light cruiser Leipzig.  And added the stands... so now it won't roll around on the shelf making a mess of the bilge keel paintwork.  Other than that though.... nothing that really counts as productive.  My legs are killing me after a week at work so I've been trying to rub some life back into them ready for tomorrow....

Yesterday helped my (not so) little boy leave home and set up in a flat in Lewisham. End of an era - this seems to be for good, not like going off to university. So, today, my lovely wife and I booked a holiday we both need and can't afford but will find a way to do while we are still able. We are going by train to spend a week on Lake Constance. I am not sure what Mr Brunel would say about these modern continental trains  - I mean 180 miles in the hour whilst using the puny Stephenson gauge of just 4' 8 and a half inches! Madness, still, we have to survive as we get to visit Herr von Zeppelin's house there as well as admire the many splendours of his airship museum at Friedrichshafen. Is it too much to hope that Zeppelin NT will be flying again by then and taking passengers?

Not satisfied with avaliable Halloween decorations I built a Banshee for the yard. She lights up too.

Will get pix of her lit up once we install her in the yard.
