Went to Harrisburg on the train, bought my bus tickets to New Orleans, just missed the next train back home by minutes so had to hang out up there for 3 hours. So stupid me decides to go check out Strawberry Square, I heard it was this cool place. Needless to say I was the round peg in a hole full of squares....and the irony was, the bulk of the stores were closed and out of business...yet they still flocked to their idol of consumerism. And then I checked out a really neat bakery, a bit pricy, but the food was good and the employees were very friendly.

Angus - that's exactly what I'd do! Wondering how you'd know that?
I've spent many a broke Hogswatch (a/k/a/Christmas-New Years) that all my friends received from me was home made herb blends for cooking in recycled herb jars!
I am a FIEND about saving tiny bottles.
Some holidays all the presents they got was 'presence'.
Barb,. may I say that you remind me so much of my ex fiancee? She was poor as a church mouse, but so interesting. She has gone on to being the caretaker for a friend who has property in Corfu, one day I have to get the money together to go over and have a natter.

Cleared out my room and took the desk out, I'm now using a rather strange arrangement involving a bedside table and a bookcase. Room's a lot cooler now, due to the extra room and my desk being on the window sill

I'm usually productive everyday..to some extent. Today=packed for this weekends photoshoot-a 25th wedding anniversary. = Glued the last side of a frame on for a project-a friend asked if I would 'steam up' a Memory Board for her. It's just a tad steamy w/a little Art Nouveau tossed in. But I'm probably just 75% done and I've been at it for months. =Finally cleaned up a vintage cigarette case to use as a business card holder-been months since I got it. =Contacted a Realestate agent to see a property

A friend visited looking very down in the dumps, so after giving him a shoulder to lean on, I cooked us some battered chicken which seemed to be appreciated.

Well I have had a crazy couple of days! I went to London yesterday as part of "orienteering" for working at this 1950s thmed diner. Well I, and several others, managed to get food poisoning, and when I was 10 minutes late to training today as a result, I was given a snarky and rude remark by my boss. Needless to say I shall not be working there.
I rang a helpline for people who want to start or expand their own business, and that sounds promising. They give you help in every way possible to get you a business plan, help finding premises, money etc, so HOPEFULLY I can start getting the wheels in motion there.
I just HATE working for other people! I had my own market stall back in Suffolk, and in Birmingham, and I loved it, but since coming to Cardiff I have bounced from one shitty unsatisfying job to another, being permanantly jaded and depressed. I know people like my stuff, as when I do events, fairs and such, I sell, and I sell alot. People like to touch and try on and talk about things you know? To have my own stall or premises again would be a dream, especially in the town centre as there are NO alternative/gothic/steampunk stores in the whole of Cardiff (maybe Blue Banana? Would you count them?).
On top of having food poioning and having to go to the doctor for other, far more female *ahem* tests today, I feel like crap. Everything is getting on top of me and I am suffocating. One week my etsy will do amazingly, the next week I won't sell a damned thing. One week I am happy and things are looking up, the next wek I being shot down again. I don't know how we are going to get to Lincoln or pay for our hotel for the Asylum, unless I just go horrendously overdrawn and hope I make a big sale to cover it. But then that is a catch 22 because the bank are not going to give me a small business loan if I am constantly overdrawn!
Urgh, it makes me feel really emo. I feel like being a sulky teenager and listening to Radiohead really loud and painting my room black.

Shifted an old fibreglass dinghy through Freecycle, then had a bonfire tonight of a pile of old rotten wood. Two steps closer to two big projects, my new workshop and the potting shed. (The Potting Shed is not really for potting, more for garden gastronomy and thinking in!) I also had an idea for another project whilst supervising the fire with a pint and a comfy garden chair...

I put some more of the finishing touches to my dissertation, namely
- put the photographs, maps and plans in; - proof read it to bring it within 22,000 words (it is now 21,864- ish); - took the front matter a little further- adding contents and lists of tables and figures
This leaves:
- one photograph to be either sharpened up or replaced - the addition of page numbers - adding a preface
And then it's done! I've been writing it for the past two months...

Today has been quite busy so far: Sorted my recycling, did three loads of laundry, paid two bills, got some groceries, sorted out some 'firepower' for a friend for this weekend's 'Post Apocalypse Zombie Holocaust' party at Bosworth, rode a motorbike for miles to do some car-hunting, test drove two, put a deposit on one, came home and then took two pairs of trousers to be shortened. Got to cook dinner, look at car insurance sites, then get organised for tonight's Lincoln Steampunk meet.
Phew! I'll be ready for beers tonight!

Cleaned the apartment and put it back together after having half the place moved to create the banner. Then I got out my jacket and began laying out where to put the fuseable web to hole the seams and liner in place for a TON of stitching. Felt like progress after a crap week.

I finally managed to convince the council that I don't in fact owe them two years council tax. Narrowly averting a bailiff with a court order from cleaning me out. Finished repairing my monitors and set up the home studio properly with my new kit intergrated (it works yay) Managed to figure out the dark art of my new plug in sampler and start on the folder of sounds for my Steampink audio meisterwerk. It seems that's ticketyboo as well. Finally made a dentist appointment but that is a good thing really. Finalised my uni re application after spending half the morning on the phone getting my account re activated. I start the 2nd year semester again next week. Still have to deal with Student Finance , but it sounds like the Uni is not going to charge me for intercalating last year after all (which is nice) Still a mountain of things to do in preparation so I'd better get on with it but yeah, not bad so far.

(9pm Mountain time) Just getting in from building the Liberal Studies Homecoming float. Nothing worth of the Rose Bowl, we're talking a 14' trailer and a truck, but it's a small town so we don't need much. Many kids wanted to just stop participating there was another debacle today that is going to have repercussions (another incident of rewriting the rules) so there's going to be big time changes and all kinds of drama next week. I talked them into sticking it out- I mean, there was only this and one other 'activity' ... they finally 'got it' when I said that all this isn't making *us* look bad- the more they do - the worse *they* look. so we wound up having a very nice time painting, gluing, and such... but I am one TIRED old woman right now. it's a GOOD tired, but ...wow.

So far today I have:
sorted my "day to day" caving kit, (in preparation for a trip tomorrow) relocated an important bit of caving kit to its correct tacklebag, washed a muddy rope, done the washing up, started on the clothes washing, surfed the aetherweb, and had several cups of coffee.
Hopefully SWMBO will appearing soon, on her way home from taking her son to Uni, this is a bonus for me as I have been trying to keep "The Black Dog" from nipping at my heels.

Finished the basic shapes for the three mudguards for my electric trike. Sawing, filing, belt sanding, making swarf- It's what I love doing, just don't have the stamina to do all that I want.
Next, mounting brackets, the challenge being to mount the lights on the same brackets, to make the job neater and simpler.
