Hey guys,
I started a new job recently which has left no time for social life.I've always had trouble holding on to friends anyway, and It also probably doesnt help that i hate most people. But i digress - I'm looking for a good website that can help me to make some friends online. Any suggestions?

Big steampunk event coming up in Waltham, MA in a couple of weeks.  Whole town does SP for the weekend.  Seems like a great place to meet fellow time travelers.

Yeah, I know - I intend to be there. However I have trouble just approaching people. I am more comfortable online.
You know, speaking of the festival, I see they are just as disorganized as they where when they tried this last year. The website says the "10th - 12th" and yet it says at the bottom "Join us May 11-12". So which is it?!

Well of course you are, your in your comfort zone. Surrounded by the things that you have put around you. From a position of security it is easy to be confident even gregarious. NONE of this applies to the outside world, there is so little control. So many ways to look foolish....

My amateur dramatics tutor told me that to perform in public is stressful. The competent orator/actor turns that fear into action.

If you dislike talking to people then allow them to talk to you. Ask questions, look people in the eye occasionally when they are talking and listen to what they have to say. Also generally even if your on your own smile a little, it puts people at ease.

I believe it is possible for those who have difficulty being social to trick others and eventually themselves into being so.
