Yeah, I know - I intend to be there. However I have trouble just approaching people. I am more comfortable online.
Well of course you are, your in your comfort zone. Surrounded by the things that you have put around you. From a position of security it is easy to be confident even gregarious. NONE of this applies to the outside world, there is so little control. So many ways to look foolish....
My amateur dramatics tutor told me that to perform in public is stressful. The competent orator/actor turns that fear into action.
If you dislike talking to people then allow them to talk to you. Ask questions, look people in the eye occasionally when they are talking and listen to what they have to say. Also generally even if your on your own smile a little, it puts people at ease.
I believe it is possible for those who have difficulty being social to trick others and eventually themselves into being so.
