This is a little sculpture I've been working on. It's a brass, clockwork, and painted sculpy spider. I've fashioned it so that three pocket watch keys can fit in the back of its abdomen.  Here's a pic of the spider with its "program keys" :  And, another side view:  As much as I'd like for this to actually work, it doesn't. I don't have that kind of skill.  BUT, it's just big enough to fit in the palm of your hand... a pocket watch with legs, if you will. -Caz |

Maybe patience... time may equal money, but patience equals quality. Why not begin making a real clockwork spider and just expect it to take a very long time? I'm sure you could do it...you can do anything if you are patient enough. |

Now that does look really cool. Kind of hunting-spider legs.
I´ve often wondered if the metal sticks in an umbrella could be used as legs for a creature.

I think you could have at least made the joints working, looks nice though.     I am making this into a remote control three legged spider. (that doesn't sound right, what should it be called?) It's really easy to make working joints, you could probably modify yours to have some without much trouble. |

From Deuschemark: You could probably make a business out this chum, while some mechanical creations may be functional, and practical (Haha) they aren't necessarily beautiful, however if you were to design chassis to be fitted around the actual parts, I'm sure many inventors would pay a pretty penny to get a lovely shell.
From Vertfig: I absolutely hate spiders, I think making an autospider is a bad idea mate!

That's really fantastic looking, and I can understand Fantômas's frustration that it's not a moving piece - it just looks so very agile! I do like it very much, however, and you should be very proud of it.
Would you mind if I posted about it on Brass Goggles at some point soon?

I once had a "Zoid" clockwork spider the movement of which was quite realistic.
I wish I had it now so I could describe the mechanics of it...
