A good day to you ladies and gentlemen,
I was wondering around a bit on the world wide web, when I stumbled upon this great forum! It's nice to see that there are many like-minded people all over the world and so I consider it an honour to be able to join such a group off interesting people Smiley
And now to the scary bit of introduction:
so...I'm new here, but I guess that's quite obvious.... I'm lady Ligeia,28 years of age, named after the wonderfull story of one of my favourite writers: E.A. Poe....Not very steampunk, but it is very Victorian and since I've been obsessed with everything Victorian for a long while now (28 years Tongue), it seemed rather fitting Wink. Because of my love for the Victorian age, I've been introduced to the concept of steampunk a few years ago and it was love at first sight  Grin
Things I love to do: sewing, crafting (needlework, lace making etc), reading, cooking, music
Things I don't like: involving in all types of sports which include running around like a mad men (very inconvenient with a bustle and a corset  Tongue)
That's all for now. I don't want to spoil anymore of your time with boring information about me, when there are such exciting things to read at this forum! Grin
regards,
Lady Ligeia

Hello!

I didn't know what steampunk meant until last night but now I'm addicted to this forum. I'm currently working on my first few projects. One is just a simple pop-pop boat, and the other two are just repainting some old Nerf guns. I might start working on a lamp soon too. I'll be sure to post my work whenever it's finished.

Hello everyone,

nice to see there`s actually a steampunk forum like this one =)
I hope to learn a lot from this forum and make some new friends along the way as well!

My name is Charlotte, and I`m from the Netherlands. I`ve been interested in steampunk for roughly a year now. It was a bit of a snowball effect, since it started off small with "oh, I might really like this" and I ended up with the near-obsession that it is now.

I actually do have a lot of interests outside of steampunk, and you will probably find me talking about those as well - they include but are not limited to other countries and cultures, science (psychology, neurology, technology, biology, and a lot of other things ending in -gy), fashion, books, movies and music.

I am however especially interested in Japan (I have even studied in Kyoto for half a year last year and am currently awaiting whether or not I get a scholarship for another year of studying in Japan).

And now, enough about me, time to find out more about this forum!

So, in true Japanese fashion:  yoroshiku onegai itashimasu!   (please be kind to me/nice to meet you).

Hello,

I am a mature student, nearly on my final year at university and am relatively new to the world of Steampunk.  I first saw some costumes at the Sunrise Festival this year in Somerset (they had a Steampunk fancy dress theme) and later at the Kew Bridge Steam Museum.  There were also some excellent exhibits there.

So far, my partner and I have dressed up a pair of my old flouro-yellow swimming goggles into a more Steampunk style.  They were painted black, had some copper stripping added to trim round the edges and my partner put some copper wiring around the nose bridge part to match the trim.  Later, we found an old-looking, thin, worn leather belt - which matched the copper colour really well - for the strap.  All I need now is an appropriate hat for them.  I do have some photos of the goggles but don't know yet how to upload pictures - Have only just registered but I will work it out...

We have started going around boot sales now, even also have my dad in on the act of finding us some old clocks - we took him to the Kew exhibition and he loved it.  I have dismantled three old clocks so far, one had some superb brass gears and cogs in.  We don't know yet what we plan to use them on but intend to browse here for some ideas.

Greetings all!

Delurked in order to do a proper introduction.  I found you all in a roundabout way, that started with my love of hats and art, well, it's a bit convoluted, but here I am!  I think the abundance of creativity is what REALLY drew me in.

I am thoroughly enjoying the forum and have been through the majority of threads soaking up all the information that I can.  I'd like to thank everyone for their spirit of sharing information here. (That doesn't happen on many other forums I frequent, none are SP by the way)  And I hope to be able to give back through sharing some projects of my own.

I'll stop at this point in order not to ramble on.  Lets just say I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Ah, that would be Brisco County Jr. holding the mysterious "sphere" (I believe thats all it was ever called in the series).  It was a western action/comedy TV show with some very steampunkish elements to it.

Besides that, it's Bruce Cambell... who may just be the most awesome person ever to walk the earth!

Normally I prefer avatar photos that are actually of the person, but in this instance, I approve of the alternate.

First step completed satisfactorily. Before you know it you'll be taking tea with like-minded eccentrics as if born to it.

Greetings

I've been aware of Steampunk for a while and decided to add it to the list of things I'll never have the time to do as well as I'd like.  Love the ingenuity folks put into it.  I'll probably lurk as much as anything, but thought I'd at least introduce myself.  I do SCA mainly, bit have forayed into French & Indian War reenacting upon occasion, and I've had a long fascination with pre-electric technology.

Hello everyone,

I've been lurcking around here for a little while and decided to introduce myself.  I'm fairly new to the Steampunk world, I find it very intersting and at the last minute I threw an explorer costume together for one of the local conventions. I'm in the process of making a backpack and I just finished transforming a nerf mavrick into a steampunk gun.   I am open to all and any ideas.  I'm hoping to learn a lot as I read through the posts.

It was called "The Orb".
On that note, you've inspired me to look into some Lord Bowler inspired outfits.

Although I just "reunited", I would also like to to welcome all the newcomers glad this forum grows, cause I experienced forum falls too cross my fingers this doesn't happen anywhere else I am on now, including this one. But that's off topic so in any case, all are welcome and I'd like to leave an open invite for a glass of bourbon and cucumber sandwiches in my atelier.

Hi - I am not too new to steampunk but new to this site and love to continue socialising with and learning from other steampunk folk. Trying to make outfits and gadgets for myself and might need helping hands or rather brains occasionally. Am around a lot - Kew Bridge Steam Museum, Lincoln and other events around the country. Love the ethics and morals of this fine culture - and one day I WILL own an airship and hire a crew of like-minded pirates to roam the skies. Oh yes! Cheesy

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

My name is David, but to my friends and family whom carry with them a wrench and a pair of brass goggles with them at all times, I am Amadeus L. Finch, captain of The Firefly, an airship I designed myself...for the most part.

As for myself as David, I am 20 and live in Michigan with my finacee and my two dogs. I have a child on the way and couldn't be happier. I am fairly new to Steampunk as a genre (about 2-3 years of fandom) and I have an insane desire to be published within the next five years. I have decided to write a steampunk novel, and decided that joining a steampunk forum would be beneficial to my goal of becoming published.

Well friends, I seem to have come to a point in my introduction that continuing would seem like babbling, but stopping would seem like there is information lacking. So, I'll leave the rest to you, if you have any questions, feel free to ask away ^_~

Well hello there Brass Goggle dwellers

I discovered this site (which was a joyous discovery) while looking for bands with steampunk themes, thought it seemed interesting and started lurking around, taking in all the amazing objects, stories and whatnot it's talented members have produced.

I feel as if Steampunk is where destiny has lead me, step by step i was drawn towards it and just recently i dived into the world and i must say, it's waters are like a nirvana.

Anywho as for information about my self, I'm a tinkerer, maker, writer, musician and so much other junk (who always requires a very good editor due to lack of grammatical/spelling /punctuation knowledge, for there are things i was never taught)

Greeting and salutations, gentlemen of all backgrounds; and to the ladyfolke, my warmest felicitations.

I find myself London based at present, having embarked at various stages in life from the land of the Great Dirt Airstrip (Australia) and the Legend of the Pacific Isle (New Zealand).
Conservative and at all times a gentleman - albeit a Pirate - I am currently assuming the guise of a businessman with suit and, weather dependent, tie.

When not talking to stray cats, you will find me chasing squirrels in the park.

May your day be filled with 24 hours; no more, and certainly no less.

Hey-
Over the last year I have been getting more into Steampunk so I thought I should stop lurking and join in.  I live in Maryland in the US an have been building things as long as I can remember, from model airplanes to classic cars.  I have recently started to build some steampunk gadgets, so it seems a good time to show some of my work and share some ideas.

Be Seeing You,
