Didn't know there was anyone southampton way into steampunk!! I'm just on the other side of the new forest, near Lymington.
I didnt know there was anyone else nearby either, we should try to meet up, I suggest Burley or Lyndhurst, anyone else down South should come too Ah yes, Burley, the place where Gardner invente...... I mean, was inducted into that err... ancient faith.... Wicca... I wonder if there is anyone else down south, I'm not a Steampunk per se myself I guess, I'm far too lazy in the clothes I wear, though I do enjoy the aesthetic and some of the music and the general DIY-ness of the whole thing!

Hello, all!
I'm Victoria, I'm 19, and I live in Kilkenny, Ireland. I've been dabbling since I was 16. I love to sew, and dress rather steampunk in real life. I wear round brass glasses, which are fantastic! I love Doctor Who and Torchwood, and I also love playing around with machines and languages.
History is something I love too... That's about it, I'm hard to put into a nutshell.

Greetings ladies and gentlemen.
Glad to be new to the forum. Ive been SP from birth, although I didn't know it had a name until about 2 years ago. I think my first semi SP moment I can remember is watching Return of the Jedi when I was about 3 yrs old. Seeing the antique metal light-saber contraption emit a laser blade was breathtaking. Later in the 80s as I grew up, I was always drawn to SP style and culture. To me if something is plastic, it is not "real". Wood, metal, glass, leather, fabrics..These are all real substances to me and I love how SP involves those elements. Anyway, Ive been looking at the site for about a month now and really enjoy the people on the boards. I also like the admins. attitude toward nonsense and the like. Stand by for pics of my SP creations as they are generated.

Greetings good ladies and chaps, Have finally decided to sign up to this rather spiffing forum as I am fed up of lurking and not contributing. I originally come from a reenactment background, I began with English Civil War in the 1980's and have been through the Romans, Normans, Yorkists & Jacobites in my time; finnally settling in the Elizabethan for many years. When reenacting I was what some would call an authenty-fascist (i.e. Everything had to be correct materials, provenanced, hand stiched, hand forged etc.) but found overtime it all became a little too stiffling. Then some years ago through a multiperiod event and some Victorian reenactment friends of mine I discovered Steampunk, well more accurately something I had been dabbling in outside of reenactment life was given a name . Since that time I have been a avid convert. No where else can I combine my passion for interesting clothing, music & objects and share it with people with a like minded philosophy. I still make all my own clothing to same high standards I did before but now I can draw inspiration from so many sources without someone breathing down my neck questioning if it's correct. I have freedom of expression because everything is correct, after all this is Steampunk See you all around the forums.

Hi. I'm 54, for the moment, and entirely new to all of this. I have no idea what I am doing but I find the imagination you folks have and display intoxicating and very refreshing. If I may I'll lurk about for a time, watch, listen, and learn. I have a 14 year old who is absolutely enamored of airships and he's just discovered Steampunk. I'm partial to Time Machines and, Chrononauts, I believe they are called. The name I have here is that of one of my great great grand aunts...who lived during the Victorian period. My real name is Siani. I live in Sunderland, in the USA. I'm a blacksmith, leatherworker, full time parent, and generally curious individual who lives by the idea of 'Growing old is mandatory, growing up in optional', all in moderation of course. That'll do to be getting on with I guess.

Hello all, I go by Dove in most forums and I'm still rather new and shiny at all this steampunk stuff. I've been interested for years in the aesthetic and style, but never knew it was called anything until another site introduced me! Im currently living in Missouri (a ways from that nasty tornado! Though i do hope anyone who was nearby came out in top shape!) and Im planning to make myself a pair of goggles and to repurpose my renaissance fair costume to be a steam punk costume! Im a very DIYODS kinda girl, and I'm glad to find other things to occupy my time other then knitting (blah!) well, anyways I'm excited to meet people around here! Onward then.

I'm Pete... AKA Cap't Crunch... and I only found out about Steampunk a few months ago. I reside in Arizona, and first heard of the genre when a local tourist attraction sponsored a Steampunk Convention. I did a little research, and discovered that Steampunk isn't all that different from what we U. S. Civil War re-enactors do... namely, modify or disguise modern necessities with a Victorian flair!
But then y'all take it one step further! Combine everyday accoutrements with Victorian style and sensibilities... add a dash of Sci-fi thinker / tinker outlandishness... a liberal dose of manners... and wrap it all up in a period coiture!
OK, you've convinced me that chivalry isn't dead, and neither is inventiveness. Now all I need is a self-propelled vehicular contraption worthy of Jules Verne, and I'll be in business.
Thanks for this forum, I look forward to many years of enjoyment to come!

I'm SteampunkObserver. I prefer the "steam" to the "punk" side of Steampunk. I enjoy anthropology, especially in terms of modern American society. America faces few questions of grave social ills, but social problems still plague us and they interest me. I rarely have time to indulge that interest as the Army keeps me busy. I spent most of my time in New York, but am often at home in Florida. I read widely on military affairs, history, social sciences and engineering.

Hello, you can call me Commander or Bragg if we become friends.
I am a man of adventure who has lived a life filled with excitement. I could go on and on to relate some story filled with unlikelihoods and outright impossibilities, always concluding with a hairbreadth escape. So sit down and place your tongue firmly in your cheek and I tell you how I saved the Empire,,,

Hi! I'm Esther Lamb, Ana for the muggles. I'm 25 and I'm from Portugal. I've always liked history so I became a medieval reenactor and my love for the Victorian fashion made me start wearing corsets, granny boots... and than one day, while surfing on the internet... I found I was steampunk and I didn't knew! I also like to make some people wonder if I'm crazy or not, by telling them detailed stories of my time travels. I tell them the only reason I'm on the 21st century is because my time machine has a defect which don't allow me to stay on other periods for many days, it always bring me back to this present. My 1916, and 1940 photos taken with an original Ansco Vest pocket also help I also make some neo-victorian accessories based on period patterns and photos.

Good day, Ladies and Gentlemen.
A psychoanalyst and translator by trade, fallen scientist by whim of fate (and a certain degree of lackadaisicalness), consumer of fine drinks by preference.
Don't remember when I became interested in Steampunk, but it was long ago. Maybe it started from juvenile fascination with the works of Verne, Wells, Obruchev and others, maybe not. Now I read, watch, listen and play many things steampunk and attend the rare steampunk events (more than often as a photographer). I'm also partial to shooting blackpowder weapons.
I've been deep into role-playing and RPG in general, now I play and gamemaster every now and then, focusing on steampunk/dieselpunk genre. I also like to tinker a bit (still learning basics of electronics, mourning my lack of formal technical training) though due to lack of time most things are, regretfully, perpetual works in progress.

Hi, I'm Jerry Sweet and I reside in Hudson, Florida. I have lurked here for some time and and now that I'm retired, I really get to goof off! I am amazed depth of talent in the Steam Punk community. The wonderful people here have no boundaries of imagination or creativity. Most important, they have the ability to bring those ideas to fruition. I shall make every attempt not to be DUFUS here.

Well, this is a long overdue introduction Greetings, my name would probably not even be all redible by the internet so i won't even say it. I come from Iceland, not many steampunk here, if any, so there isn't much to go on around here. I have a nearly finished sort of gentlemany engineer outfit wich i rather like ( walking around sporting a pocketwatch here turns many heads). I have a sort of character wich i may some day write a story about, his name is Gus Hammerman, a rich engineer. Inherited money from relatives but continued his passion for technology and steam and everything related. I love this website/forum, have been reading it non stop since i discovered it

And a wonderfully good...erm....morning, afternoon? So hard to keep track sometimes. In any case, I am the rougeish, redoubtable, irreverent and irrepressible Jakobos R. Skewlake. you may have heard of me. No? Really? Well....now I feel silly. In that case, I must introduce myself! I've been knocking about here and there for a score and three years, but I currently reside in a quaint little town out on the west coast of America, in the US territories. I was pointed in this direction by a oft-times traveling companion of mine, Mahogany. Those, however, are a completely different tale for a different conversation. For now, I say to you all: Hail fellows! And well met!

The gold in the west was mined up LONG ago... Now it's all hidden oilwells... There's a cracked.com artile about it (yes, I get almost ALL of my news from Cracked.com... What?) So, it's STILL TEXAS BLOODY TEA! Tee hee hee! Dear God, that reminds me of the end of that new James Bond flick, when they find the body that had drank the oil... Sean Connery for life, baby! PS: Still a heartfelt welcome to all the new forum members, not trying to hijack the thread or anything-just, well... Tonight is bloody lonley, that's all...

How do all, I've been looking for a thread like this so I could do some proper introductions.
My name is Ross, I'm from a place south of Edinburgh, Scotland, I just turned 18, I've been into Steampunk for roughly 8 months but I've had an interest in Steampunk for much longer, I consider myself a man out of time, I seem to prefer older things and when I found Steampunk it was a natural fit, I do many things, I have a youtube account where I do short films ( one day I'm hoping to do a Steampunk video ) I write, I do art both on and off the computer, I also love buildings things in a sort of tinkerer way, the first Steampunk Project I worked on was my goggles, I've been looking for many other local steampunk but I didn't where to start and I thought a forums was the best way to do it, hopefully I'll make some friends.
Ross.
