Hello all. Just found out the existence of Steampunk a year ago I believe. Thanks to the book Liberator, which was randomly picked off a Library shelf (Great book BTW, start with the 1st in the series, Worldshaker). I think I have been lurking here for awhile.Maybe since the start of the year? Nothing steampunky every goes around here, where I live, so in terms of doing anything steampunk related, I'm stuck with reading steampunk books and making steampunk Nerf blasters. Well, I'm in the process of making a Transformer look Steampunk. That could be a 1st. Would love to own a steampunk coat though, that would look real slick. For hobbies I collect Transformers and Modify Nerf Blasters... oh, and read too, if you count that. So I guess that's about it. Hardly a first but an admirable goal! Welcome to Brass Goggles! Yep, I know of that hearts of steel line. I'm trying to hunt down a black nemesis version of that optimus. Well, that series was steampunk in the 1st place. I'm painting a regular transformer to look steampunk. Cybertron Vector Prime, if you wish to see how he looks like on google.

A very good afternoon to all. I am just getting into the steampunk ethos, driven by my love of victoriana. From my name you can deduce that I'm a photographer, but not a normal one!!! My pictures of choice are made with a process invented in 1851 and involve making the film myself on glass plates. (wet plate collodion photographs) I hope to become a participant in groups and events in the future and would love to be able to photograph gatherings in a truely orginal and authentic way.
Regards, Martin

Hello. I'm new. I like victorian and steampunk looking interior decorations and trinkets. I might make some.

*cough* Let me try that again. Hi. I'm new to this forum. I've known about Steampunk for almost 10 years now, but didn't become interested in it until recently, after reading some steampunk-ish novels. You can say I'm kind of a noob when it comes to steampunk related things, though I've always been interested in Victorian thingamajingies and aestethics. This looks like a nice forum, and I hope no one minds my funky use of the English language (not a native speaker). See you around.

The wolf huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down. The witch was a lousy neighbor, anyway.

It's crazy but I actually just discovered steampunking the other day while shopping for a derby hat. I play the upright bass and am quite fond of bluegrass. it lead me into a world i had seen but never really fully looked at. I spent years following around a band, of which much of the fan base are yearly Burning Man attendees also.
I'd always loved the style but never realized it was its own little world. I have become enthralled with the gadgets and have started drawing some plans on some of my watches i hope to make some day.
I have always been strange but never really found my niche, steampunking is definitely my breed of crazy.
cheers to some new folks to enjoy life with!

Welcome to newcomers!! Pull up the comfy chair and post a tidbit or two.
I hear that there is cake! And tea / brandy in the fore lounge. Watch out for the little cat - she turns into a small kracken from time to time.

Lovely forum, Good day. I'm originally a New Englander, Maine to be exact, but currently serving with the Navy in San Diego, I'm a Boatswain's mate by trade so Steampunk seems a natural fit. Cheers all.

Hey guys,
I just came across this site and am really impressed! I have recently cleaned off my bookshelves of books I have read and I think I will be releasing some... just as soon as I learn all the "how to" parts. LOL
First, I'd like to check into the people who may be looking for a specific book in case I have it. I know that feeling. I read about a wish list thingy for that but I haven't found it yet. That would be fantastic to have just the book someone wants!
