Greetings!
My name is Gadgets. I hail from Texas, formally from Michigan. I have stumbled upon this site a time or two, and I decided I wanted to get to know all of you lovely people. I am fairly new to the steampunk culture, but I have been lingering just on the edge for a while, and I am eager to meet others that have been involved in it.
I am a jeweler by passion. It is a recent discovery, and I feel it is a great stress reliever and allows me a creative outlet I have been craving for years.
I am not entirely sure what all else I should post, but as I plan to be around, I am sure I will get to know you all. I look forward to it!

Good day everyone.
I have recently joined the forums of Brass Goggles and thought I would say hello.
I am a long time reader of the science fiction and fantasy genre. I have also started reading Zombie fiction (as opposed to zombie fact) and enjoy and of the world type of books. I also read a lot of history, although this is mostly World War II and Cold War era stuff. I have recently become interested in the Steampunk genre and found this forum. I have perused the forum over the last several days and have very much enjoyed what I have found. The amount of material on this forum is almost mindboggling. I find new and interesting tidbits daily and for that I thank everyone! The literature pointed out by everyone has been fantastic and I have several books on order already.
I am also an avid gamer; mostly war and strategy board games but sometimes computer and console. I used to play several role playing games. I have been looking through the forums for a good steampunk rpg. I did not realise there were so many!
Hopefully I will have some interesting items to add to the forum as I get more into the setting and background of Steampunk.
Dan

G,day all though ill stop by and say hello. Ive been interested in all things steampunk for many years yet only recently decied to make and become more involved.
I have done a fair bit of metal work including making armour and weapons for the various medieval groups as well for my self. When iam not making armour i can be found rebuilding old vehicles esply old Land Rovers its one way to make a living and i do love it. There doesnt seam to be a real lot of quality home made steampunk or dieselpunk gear (vehicles, bikes, machanical stuff) over here, alot of nice costumes but not much else however i do plan to change that ASAP!
I look forward to getting to know you all and hopefully even meet a few of ya fellas too.

You do realise the authorities are monitoring this site and when Steampunk becomes illegal, which it inevitably will given the subversive nature of its devotees, then your membership of this list will be used against you. You will all be the first against the wall when the counter-counter revolution comes.

Greetings Ladies and Gents,
I am the illustrious, ever so slightly mad, Robert Capri Redwin, or Red Cap. I have not been a member of the fan base for long, approximately forty eight hours and counting. I have however been part of other genres and sub-genres that link to this one for quite a few years. It is through increased activity of the steampunk culture on my book of faces, from both friends and strangers, that I have grown to become further interested in it.
I am a bit of a world traveler, currently residing in the wondrous city of Seoul, in South Korea, but was born in raised in California. I am a writer and adventurer always looking for something creative to do.

Salutations Ladies & Gentlemen, I inadvertantly stumbled across the SteamPunk genre this morning with the aid of Google fu and have been enraptured ever since. Being veritably ancient at 47 I recall the original punk movement way back in 77, which I found particularly fascinating, so much so in fact, that I donned the attire, adorned my clothing with all manner of spikey steel and assaulted my ear drums with disproportionately loud music. Now at the age where I tend to live an ever so slightly more sedate life I find myself confronted with SteamPunk which I'm ashamed to say I'd never heard of as such, and I'm even more fascinated than I was in my youth. The artistic nature of SteamPunk is truly mind boggling, so many weird and wonderful inventions and transmutations it's truly awesome. I've always loved Jules Vern & H G Wells, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle et al and the designs of the various contraptions which manifested themselves during the miriad of adventures these great authors created for us, just never knew there was an actual movement associated with these literary works of art. After seeing pictures of everyday technology transformed into works of art my creative juices got the better of me and I decided to delve more deeply and submerse myself in this fantastical world. I'm an Urban Explorer by nature and have spent the last few years traversing the country taking photographic likeness's of the abandoned and decaying from Mental Asylums to Power Stations, Underground Tunnels and Shelters, Caves, Mines anywhere not many people have been or where beautiful architecture is being laid waste. My actual name is Kane, as I mentioned I am beginning to curl at the edges a touch, I have great interest in art & literature, musically my tastes are quite varied, and I'm currently inhabiting a seaside town in Kent. I hope that'll suffice for a brief introduction, and that I might loiter a while in this fine establishment and discover what wonderous secrets it holds? So very nice to make your aquaintances. Hi Steampunk fans! My name is Martyn, at the time of writing I am 23 years old and residing in the Suffolk area of Britain I have always been obsessed with cogs and machinery for as long as I can remember, but didn't realize that it was a way of expressing yourself as well as an interest. I have been looking at various forums for the last few weeks and found this one and it seems the friendliest so far, so, there you are, here I am My hobbies aside from steampunk are: Getting tattoo's (working on a steampunk sleeve on left arm, pics on request , half sleeve on right, 2 on chest , one on back, one on right ribs, and one on each leg ) Playing bass and acoustic guitar Reading ( a lot) and Weightlifting I hope I can make a positive contribution to the forums and look forward to making friends

Good day everyone, I'm a young italian man son of an englishman, and I'm very interested in steampunk ever since watching the "Jasper Morello" cartoon. I have many interests, but at the moment my main goal is to get steampunk style in everyday life, and being that quite difficult for a novice, any help and tips are welcome! Thank you!

Greetings all! I'm very new to the whole Steampunk thing, my wife and I have recently become quite interested in it. Looking at putting together couple of outfits and hitting some events in the UK. Any help or advice would be splendid. I myself have been into the WW2 re enactment scene for a couple of years. Starting out I'm looking to do either a Prussian C19th military look or an Alan Quatermain desert adventurer look. Cheers!

I don't think I've introduced myself here. I'm Kestrel, 22 years old, currently from sunny southern California, but moving over to Ireland for graduate school. I've been into steampunk for quite some time, but I have no clue how to get involved in the scene, and I can't really afford costuming, doing the poor college student thing.

hey guys, greetings from Holland! My name is Tessa a.k.a. La Dutchessa (model/performer name) a.k.a. Therese Airheart (function; airborne explorer first class). Since quite some time I've been an active member of the dutch fantasy scene, starting off in Victorian attire. Although I take on many forms, the Steampunk genre is the most attractive to me because of it's creativity and freedom compared to historically correct genres. That's also why I sometimes take a little detour into diesel/cyber/military or other related styles. You can find me on every dutch (and sometimes also belgian, french or german) event. You can find me on facebook by La Dutchessa. I also am part- organiser of the first dutch Steamers convention named www.emporiumvernesque.com that takes place in november. It was about time I joined this club, looking forward to inspire and be inspired!

Hello, everyone! My name is Anna-Kaisa, I'm 20 years old and I live in Finland. I've been interested in steampunk for about two years. Unfortunately, I don't have the skills or resources to do costumes, and I've never been an artistic person...consider me as a talentless wannabe.

Banfili is right, Anna. I have a friend who keeps saying that she has no creativity, but you should see the beautiful flower gardens she grows, and her skills at interior decoration are awesome. You should just try all sorts of projects, until something clicks. Scan these BG pages for ideas, and you'll see something that will get you going.

Jumjum from thá south of Sweden. I have always loved bras from 1800-1920, it´s totally overworkt with a lot of ridges, cones, and so on just because it looks good, not for function or thought of the manufacturing price. Expensive then, scary cheep today to by on auctions!! I had seen some steam computers on the net, but it was a clip on Youtube with Jake Von Slatt, that made a definition of what i was A Steampunker. I stumbled across this page when I was looking for steampunk weapons ... On Google there are lots of painted toy guns, which they call steampunk .. personally ill think it's okay for a masquerade or similar BUT I want a functioning steampunk weapon!! I found only one functioning rifle on youtube, so what do you do? You start to build your own! I´ts going to be based on a cut down paitball gun, with a working brass kerosene burner that its supposed to heat a water boiler (but I will only use CO2, but in theory it would work, but i don´t like hot steam in my beautifully face ). So when it´s finish I will post "How to make a working steampunk gun". It´s a blunderbuss type of rifle with inspiration of a Violin in the wood stock. No, I will NOT post anything before is complete! My father always said "The last 10% takes 90% of the building time"
