This is a set of marking gauges that I found while sorting through some of my innumerable tool boxes.

They are made by Moore and Wright of Sheffield and are going to be most useful over this coming Bank Holiday.

From left to right, Square/450, Adjustable Bevel gauge and a Centre Gauge (for locating the centre of circular stock.

To paraphrase Churchill, 'Give us the tools and we'll stare at them lovingly for about half an hour.'

Such are the feeble bases on which many a public character rests.
