Trying to get a Bodleian card. I've had to get a form, signed by myself, my tutor, my subject librarian and the head librarian (all up at Brookes), so I can get another form which needs to be signed by me, which when I hand over will also entail a rigourous examination of existing library accounts (Do I have fines? Do I have overdue books?) and also involve having my photograph taken.... before I have to make a solemn oath not to damage the books and then promise my first-born to the library before I can even get past the enquiries desk... I don't think even the Masons are so secretive or thorough as the Bodleian!

I just got my contract thrugh for my new job, and I am fucked. I will be on £720 a month BEFORE tax etc, an it contractually states "overtime rate not applicable for this position" and that "there is currently no bonus scheme in place". I turned down TWO £16-18 grand a year jobs for this position, and was told in the interview I can do extra hours, get bonus etc and now I am going to be earning more or less what I did when I was waitressing. Fucking. Hell. I thought I would be better off doing retail, not worse! How the hell am I supposed to pay the bills? My rent alone is £500! I am going to have to either turn down this job as well and find something else in th nest two weeks, move to a cheaper property (meaning I will have to get rid of my cat) or somehow magically sell £200 worth of jewelry and accessories a week through etsy. Ain't going to happen, is it? Ah well, I shall see you all in town no doubt, I'll be one the one selling The Big Issue.....

Is it not worth taking it whilst you continue to look? I'm not up on these things, but don't benefits tail off progressively, or does this figure take you over the limit for assistance?
Still a bit sh**ty to promise one thing and then change it.

Benefits? I'm not on benefits. I never have been. Ever. I was working at Folli Follie before, and was offered this job two days before my last last there, so for the last month have had a relaxing holiday, making things to sell in my etsy shop, getting well and sorting life out. I was due to start at Bouz on the 16th March......

You should be able to get a housing benefit top-up, you don't have to be on benefits to get it... worth a look and better than rehoming both yourself and your cat.

Local council website would be your best bet.
Just search Housing Benefit and on you go. I currently get Housing Benefit as I'm on a variable wage, some weeks I have lots of money, some weeks none... also if you're renting (and liable for council tax, not like me, I'm a lodger) you'll be able to get council tax benefit too.

Opticians I need new pair so have been hunting for the past couple of days for something decent . So far all I can find are thin and oblong, gok wan lookalikes and t shell patterns. If you ask for round ones and they automaticely assume you want to look like harry potter. I have, at last, found a pair in gold that look almost exactly like these 19th century ones below for £70 but with moi being blind as a bat it mean I'll have a good half inch of lends out at the side unless I can find another £70 for extra thin lenses

I wish you'd posted this yesterday, there was an online opticians doing a £50 off coupon for the first 5000 people to place an order after 17:00 today... sadly they're all gone now, but it would have been possible to get free glasses and only have to pay the £7 p&p. Worth keeping an eye on (no pun intended) in the future.

Hmmm, the Citizen Advice Bureau was closed, they said to go back first thing on Monday.....
I emailed one of the other better paid jobs I turned down, and they said they could see if they still have a position availible for me if I 100% want it, and won't back out again. So now I have two choices:
Stick with the lower paid job and possibly be on benefits, work in Cardiff and do a job I would LOVE.
Go for the other well paid job, commute to Bristol everyday and do an ok job thats just meh.....

Got in from work at 6.45 and found a flyer type letter on my hall mat. The council are are telling me that the Fire Brigade need to check that " a secondary means of escape is available and clear". So I HAVE to be at home tomorrow to give them acceess as it HAS to be done within 24 hours and if I'm not at home to let them in they "have no choice but to force entry to my flat to comply with the Fire Brigade's safty notice" Do they think that because it's a council block we're all sitting about on our arses all day counting our benefits and watching Jeremy f*ckin' Kyle with nothing better to do? I have a bloody job to go to and live alone. I've had to phone my work and leave a voicemail message for them that saying I won't be in tomorrow because of this..which leaves them no option but to jiggle round the entire duty rota at very short notice to cover my duties and my superviser will not be a happy bunny! And I know what will happen. I'll be sitting at home, unable to leave the house all day and they will show up about 4pm and be here for about 5 minutes while I say "Look..there is my fire escape and look..I can get to it easily!!!" and then they'll leave. Inconsiderate Bastards! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Illness- my youngest brought it home Friday, was sick all weekend, and I kept him home from school Monday. Then I wake up sick with it on tuesday, felt better yesterday and now feel worse today. The fact that I went on a pre k field trip today didn't help..Also my oldest came down with it last night, and it looks like he's going to miss school tomorrow as well. My hubby hasn't come down with it yet, but I'm sure by the weekend he'll be sick with it.. Gaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

So, I picked to do a Vocational course at college, and my so-called friends spent years taking the piss and forcing me into depression.
They all failed their A levels today, and apparently that's my fault? I put on Facebook that my top grades and I (which I worked SO hard for!) wish those who ruined my life good luck in their re-sits. It wasn't meant sarcastic, but a so called best friend has taken it that way, then gotten his girlfriend involved. I checked out what he said with her, and she was all 'Nah, its fine, I actually laughed when I thought it through!'. So, essentially, my success is other people's GAH!

Ava, someone is always going to be annoyed that you're succeeding and they're not. They can suck it. You know how it is. Haters gonna hate. My GAAAAAAH? Me. I've been feeling a certain bitterness for days. I can't put my finger on why. But now I'm finding that I'm trying to unload it on S, and he doesn't deserve it. Bad Amy. Bad.

My flatmate deciding to bring friends home at 4 this morning for a good ol' chinwag. Told him to be quiet... he didn't. Called campus security to ask him to be quiet... he still didn't. So now it's just gone 8 and guess who's playing the Tannhauser Overture at near full volume?

So now it's just gone 8 and guess who's playing the Tannhauser Overture at near full volume? I've always thought that music like that should only be played at full volume. Quietly just doesn't suit it! (I'll bet your flat mate doesn't agree, though )

Rose Oak, if you find yourself in this quandry again it could be worth checking out the childrens frames (if you can bare the mockery-Ifound staring them in the eye and saying of all the unpleasent styles they had I was looking at the least abhorent and i Really didnt care who they were meant for if they fit me)-my glasses are kids frames, they only cost £16, admittedly a few (5) years old now, but there were tons and tons of fairly plain metal frames (although not as beautiful as the ones you found!)

Inconsiderate roommate's of a certain boyfriend whom are only his roommate because of a relationship to his unfortunate sister, both of whom have a nasty habit of interrupting us whilst on the phone, getting ready to call, or webcam. This coupled with the slight bit of hush about the relationship is a right bloody pain in the arse. I. Want. To. Talk. To. My. Boyfriend. Oh, also. Apparently his family vacations about five hours from me some summers, but he'd be unable to come see me. GAAAAAAAAAAAAH! >_<

Well I have had a look at the childrens ones and I found a nice dark maroon pair in plastic that were slightly thicker then metal. The trouble was that the lady in the store was so rude and kept leaving me to deal with other customers I eventually walked out. Th only othe ones I found that I liked turned out to have cartoon frogs on the arms I'm tempted to go with the moschino round ones, I have them reserved till wed at the shop.. The aesthetic part of having thick lenses doesn't bother me, I'm lucky I can see at all but I'm a bit worried that they might deform the shape thse are them

What a waste of a day! I've pissed off my boss and lost a day's leave for nothing!! Thank you SO bloody much!!!

To Capt. Dirigible: Ouch, mate. Those kinds of situations are bloody annoying. Waking up to bad news (about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan) and having said bad news destroy your motivation to do your homework and go to class. This produces a sad fluff who simply says "gaaah...." and wants to curl up in bed for the rest of the day.
