Static mother*-ing electricity. I can't tough anything without a massive lighting bolt jumping out and hitting me.

Use it to your advantage: wear a superhero costume and call yourself electroman.. then start zapping people..

Coming out of an 8-year relationship and finding your favourite forum littered with my own smug (smug-sounding, now) references to the "Significant Other", the "other half" and the in-jokes between folk who know us both.
.

>Shocked and stunned<

What can I say, except I'm really sorry to hear this? I do hope it wasn't an acrimonious parting.

Ah, damn, sorry. I've been letting people know via Facebook messages, now it occurs to me non-FB-users will have been overlooked.

The rot had set in, and even a wake-up call last year by way of handing the Engagement ring back wasn't enough to change things. It reached a point where I had to say "No more!" for the sake of my own mental health/wellbeing/self-esteem, whatever you wanna call it.

Things are amicable, it may say a lot about us that we spent 20 minutes deciding what to do about the house & mortgage but 3 days arguing over some of the books.

My Mum has a new in ear hearing aid, it is very good and does everything one could ask of it. When I visited her today, she was banging it on the table to remove the battery. Not gently.

I asked her for it, tipped it to one side, and the battery fell out of the holder as it is designed to do.

The electronics will probably survive this kind of treatment, but the battery holder could get so broken. My Mother has no mechanical sympathy or understanding, and with hindsight never has done.

Well done on finding the silver lining there!

And as for books vs. house: you're always at home with a good book.

Asked my fatehr to pay my deposit for my Uni room. He's thinking it over. For God sake if he doesn't do this, I will have nowhere to live. Just because he thinks he has the power. If he doesn't pay it in the next week, I won't be going to Uni.    Cry Cry

So, my best friend came over so we could buy our tickets online together. Tickets go on sale at 10:00am. 10:01, we're told there are no floor tickets.

WTF?! ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?! I mean, yeah, Rammstein hasn't been here in about a decade, and they've never been to Western Canada, but STILL. One minute and all the flippin' floor tickets are 'sold out'? I don't believe that AT ALL.

Sigh. We secured two tickets in the fifth row of the lower section, but... GAAAAAAH. I haven't been in a mosh pit in years. I miss it.

I've been looking forward to Sunday at the Steam Museum for weeks now... at this moment I am unable to stand up straight and I fear Mr. Sciatica is coming to pay a call.

Thank you Mr. Sciatica, perfect timing as always.

Was that by any chance at Knebworth? I was there, most amazingly epic gig ever. I waited for one and a half hours to get to the front, and it was SO worth it.

If you want to get into the mosh, I can guarantee that there will be touts there who'll flog you a couple, provided you have the cash.

Oh, man. I'm so jealous. Those pics turned out really well, considering where you'd have to be to get them. It's now starting to kick in, though.

Regardless of where I'm sitting, I'M GOING TO SEE RAMMSTEIN. WOOOOOOOOOOO! -Bounces over to the Things That Made You Happy thread.-

fritzingfrhz recruitment agencies

I got a call on Tuesday from an agency asking if I was interested in a contract for two weeks.  They needed my documents and references.

On Wednesday they had all they wanted, it was agreed that I should start the next day.
I started on Thursday and worked a seven hour day.  The role was as a Careers advisor and during the first day I saw 6 clients in one to one sessions, wrote their CV's, wrote a two hour group workshop and delivered said workshop to clients.

On the Friday it was similar (except I had to get in half an hour earlier to attend a team meeting, and I had to write and deliver the workshop in the morning - seeing clients one to one in the afternoon).  Being a contractor, and as it was a Friday, I called the manager and asked her to sign my time sheet. She came down, signed and thanked me for the cover for the two days.   WHAT,. WHOA, HEY - wheres my other twelve days!!!

I was supposed to sign on for JSA on Monday but, as I was going to be working for at least two weeks (and would not be able to  sign on this Monday), I signed off.  Had I known it was just two days I wouldn't have bothered.

Dad throwing a wrench into my plans for the evening by sitting at his computer and blaring his music.  I do weekly livestream sketch cleanups, and haven't scanned the piece I was gonna clean up for this week, because of muse issues, and now i have to push my session back because the tossbag won't take the hint and go eat his dinner.

The worst job I ever had was through an Agency. I needed a job andf the Agency railroadeed me into this six month job at a cigarette warehouse. The regular staff treated the 'temps' with utter contempt. It was a 'secure' premises so staff were not allowed out during lunch breaks, and the canteen was dire- the canteen staff had a ghetto blaster permanently tuned to a bad commercial pop mucic station.

I did meet one interesting fella there- another temp who carried a mummified Pipistrel around in a little box. He explained that if he showed his bat to somebody, and they freaked, he did not want to be friends.

Realising that I'm probably never going to get laid again.

Could always be worse.  In another 7 years I'll most likely be living the movie "40 year old virgin."

See folks, this is what happens when you make the bizarre decision to live a completely honorable life and pass up opportunities because it is "the right thing to do."  Once you finally come to your senses, all the opportunities have passed you by.

It's a nice idea to aspire to, in theory, but ultimately flawed, if you constantly get into the routine of passing up such opportunities, you have the moral high ground. The air is fresh, the views are pretty... and the paths are lonely. Also, it can be countered. You pass up on an offer from a lady on moral grounds, right thing to do? I put this to you, what could be more honourable, gentlemanly, human and "right" than to engage with another person? Make them feel a connection with you? I can't think of anything greater to aspire to.

So, I told myself that I'm going to quit smoking when I finished my last one yesterday.

I just discovered that I do in fact have enough money in my bank account for one last pack.

I want one. Really bad. Frick.

Take it from someone who's been there. There's always enough for one last pack. Deciding to use that money for something else is a hell of a step forward.

Gahh moment? its 1am, I'm wide awake and don't have the tools I need to finish the project that's staring me in the face.

*In a stern & Authoritive voice* "Ok Lady/Madam/Miss! step away from the fags, you do not need them, step away I say"

You don't not need fags, trust me, you don't need them.! Save the money for something more useful, like books, clothes or whatever. (trust me, I've been smoking since the age of 11, I'm now 45! I wish I never started, and I'm still smoking)

How much is a pack of 20 in Canada? 8-10CD$+tax?. If you give up (a pack of fags) you have just the same amount to buy a decent paper back of your choice...please give up.

My cat was apparently completly mellow and sleepy all day yesterday until I got back from Brum..... The minute I got in he starting chasing me, jumping on my new things, attacking my feet etc. He was really spazzing out and having a mad half hour, and in the end I had to shut him out of the living room after he jumped on the full and very heavy case and it fell on him! He was ok and ran away, but man....he's nuts!
