I've noticed that, while the topic of pubs is often discussed in threads about specific meet ups, I couldn't see any thread highlighting steamy pubs in general. I also noticed that, as the meet ups generally occur around the centre of town, those steamy pubs on the outskirts never seem to crop up - and you never know when you may be on the edge of the smoke looking for a decent pub. Whit these thoughts in mind, I thought that I'd start up a thread to cover these points.
To start the ball rolling I'll mention the William IV over in Leyton/Walthamstow, East London. Not only is it a fine, strapping Victorian building but it has a rather appealing interior and a wonderful little micro brewery in the outbuildings. Not only can I recommend the Mint Choc Chip Stout, but I can give a personal health warning on their own porter - goes down a treat but is around 7%

Below are some snaps I've taken inside the pub. Sorry about the wobbly photos - did I mention the porter?
A snap of the back room of the bar. Only one of the hats on show was mine
A part of the bar, which snakes its way through both front and back room in the pub
The other corner of the back room
A photo of some of the residents
A close up of the patriotic Gnu
And a very poorly lit view of the vaulted roof in the back room
And lastly, Reynard, posing with a few birds
The downside, something extremely common in pubs and bars nowadays, is the proliferation of fruit machines and television screens.
