I've noticed that there are rather a lot of steampunk events that happen in Brighton. However, I've only tracked down one of our number who lives nearby. Are there any others nearby (within a half an hour distance)??

The Hidden Cabaret events at the Little Marlborough run bi-monthly. They are great fun and attract a great audience every time.  This is very much a tribute to Tarik's (Carnival Catalyst) hard work.  There is a core of steampunks based in the Brighton area including of course Commodore Rankin and Lady Raygun.  There are a number who attend the Hidden Cabaret who are not members of BG and there are a number of us who travel to Brighton for the events.  To make local contacts I would strongly advise you to attend the next Hidden Cabaret event get to know some of the people there.  I am sure Tarik would offer introductions if you require them.

The next Brighton event is the Steampunk Hidden Laboratory on May 1st.

Unfortunately work prevents us from attending but we are sure it will be an entertaining evening.

As a boinus, In June, which would ordinarily be a quiet month,  Allegra has chosen Brighton as the location for the next  Steampunk Magazine Soiree and is working with Tarik and the Little Marlborough to stage a full weekend of steamy fun.  There is more information here:

It looks brilliant and may, just, be feasible. But, are under-18's allowed? Because there was another event going on in June I think, but they didn't allow under 18's (something to do with drinking I think)...

Also, this week is Uncanny Valley, which is again at The Marlborough, and is hosted by Professor Elemental, SpaceDog and Jane Bom Bane, who have all performed at previous Steampunk Hidden Events.
