Being, as I am, stuck between contracts and stuck at home looking after an infirm elderly relative (in the West Wing, in a tower) I have had some time on my hands- this has allowed me to finish up some long standing projects ( propeller powered flying saucer, 1947 Panzer walking tank), and start a new one: The Aerial Battle ship, inspired, in part, by this wonderful piece of art: Here's where I am after a couple of days tinkering: I've got the keel in place, with the ramming prow; the bits of tube show where the super structure will be, I'm probably going to have small propellers behind the two smaller gas envelopes, and one huge prop. at the back, behind whatever control urfaces I decide on. And then, THE WORLD.

That looks to me like how the airships in The Red Star ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Star) should have been designed. What's the origin of the artwork exactly HD?

Dear old Red Star- whatever (and whyever and wherever) happened to that? I did enjoy what there was of it, perhaps they were too ambitious... As for that image, I *think* it originally came from here: http://www.isotx.com/index.php?view=1888But it's been 'round t'web sixteen dozen times, so it might originate elsewhere...

Absolutely wonderful. It's especially enjoyable to see the work in progress.
Look forward to seeing the next installment...
Can I just ask - do you make your models from bits and pieces you find laying around?
Well done sir!

B- this has allowed me to finish up some long standing projects ( propeller powered flying saucer, 1947 Panzer walking tank), and start a new one: The Aerial Battle ship, inspired, in part, by this wonderful piece of art: That is a cool picture. I downloaded a 1024x640 version of it. Pretty cool model. If your a fan of "what if" aircraft and walking Panzers, you should check out Ted Nomura's work. He has written many alternate history stories dealing with those designs: Luftwaffe 1946, Tigers of Terra and Families of Altered Wars. Most of his work is published by Antarctic Press. SM

I'm reminded of the Ripping Yarn 'Tomkinson's School Days' when he made a 'full scale model' of an Icebreaker

Looking good, Herr Doktor! Can't wait to see the build progress. I'm reminded of the Ripping Yarn 'Tomkinson's School Days' when he made a 'full scale model' of an Icebreaker "But Sir, there's 1500 tons of steel in this thing!"

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

Today I've managed to lay down the basics of the superstructure and upper decks, as well as some detail on the two outer balloons, envelopes, sticky out things: (note the useful notation of the word 'TOP' so I don't get confused) I'm very pleased at how quickly this is coming together, soon I'll actually have to work out what scale it is, and what colours to paint it! PS: Markf- funny you should bring up Nazi rocket men, in my (nearly) finished WWII German walking tank diorama, I have a 54mm lady RAKETENTRUPPEN:

Blocked out the bridge and faired in the decks, it's reaching the point where I'll be adding the smaller details: OMG! It's coming right for us! EVASIVE MANOEUVRES! PHEW! Missed us! Next up, I'll be working out where the guns will go, building the guns, and adding more guns. Did I mention the guns?
