Whilst not strictly steampunk, posting the info here in case its of interest to others (the event is nothing to do with me, other than being an enthusiastic attendee!).  One of the "tribes" for this post-apocalyptic themed ball could be vaguely construed as steampunk but with a twist.  Smiley

Aftermath - The Apocalypse Ball

Having been to the previous years' Balls in Salisbury, I can thoroughly recommend it as a fun night out.  Sounds like there are going to be some imaginative costumes for this years' too!
Have bought all the componants to create my post-apocalyptic ballgown, now just trying to work out what to do for a mask (some form of customised goggles maybe?)

I concur. The Countess and I have attended the last four Salisbury Balls (formerly called The Dark Masquerade) and they are a brilliant night. As vampyresheep says this year they are giving a much wider scope for the theme of the costumes and one of them  is steampunk in all but name:

Ancients are retro-futurist in appearance and attitude. Retreating to the comforting safety of ancient times when nuclear war was no more than a flight of fancy, they have used the 'modern day' items scavenged from nearby wrecked cities to recreate what they see as 'better times'. Individual cities have adopted different eras and made them their own - and so you'll discover societies of Ancients from all ages of History, from Victorian to Edwardian, Medieval to Georgian, Tudor and the Middle Ages - but each with distinctive additional futuristic elements that come with trying to survive in an apocalypse-ravaged world. Cities are powered by a combination of steam, elbow grease and solar power, though fuel and water are at a premium and supplies guarded jealously.

We already have our tickets  and are in the process of getting suitable costumes and masked sorted. It'll be nice if some other Brass Goggles members were there too.

Please read through their website thoroughly, though. Especially the dress code.
