This is not a housing for a usb drive but a small case/container to put a drive in for transporting between destinations.

Yes the cogs are extraneous and non functional (so sue me, but be aware I shall defend any litigation with the utmost vigour).
This is what happens when faced with the irresistible urge to make something and your son leaves a container of minty confectionery lying around. ( he should know better by now). and you can only find 3 watch cogs in the parts bin.
Nearly forgot, it's lined with purple velvet.
