Would certainly be interested, thing is transport back to Bedford at that time of night would be very difficult to get hold of, other than that problem it looks like a good night out.

Vamps are now a horrid subculture thanks to twilight. I'd love to turn up and slay 'em all.
Maybe a Steamy vamp hunt through Night time London is on the cards?

Excellent sentiment! but let us not be too harsh, if any have stayed true to their roots in Stoker and all the tales of eastern Europe perhaps they could be saved? but I must admit Twilight has had a horrid effect on the poor werewolf who is now more a fluffy teen-icon than what it should be; could we extend our hunt perhaps to include werewolves who are just too damned fluffy and angst ridden? Alas again transport is the issue, getting into the event wouldn't be a problem, getting out would.

Agreed. Except half the LVG are also involved in Steampunk and attend all the gatherings.

The Geographical section seemed more appropriate than the Off-Topic one, seeing as, although the event in question in not specifically Steampunk in nature, it is still something which would be of interest to some Steampunks.

The Countess and I will be attending this. We go to all the LVG's parties..they're bloody good (no pun intended) and of late there has inded been been a smattering of steamy interpretations of the costumes. They even had a steampunk slayers Vs cyber vamps party a year or so back (which was how I first found out about the steampunk community ).

I'll be going to the LVG party too! Pretty much echo the comments made by Captain Dirigible about the events. And less of the Twilight comparisons please - we're not a bunch of emo teenagers! Not read the books or seen the films and have no intention of doing so!

Just because members of the lvg are going to one of their events does not make it a steampunk event. The advert should not be on this site, where will it all end, I will start advertizing fetish events!! Moderator where are you?

Considering how there have been a fair few other posts on here about non-specifically steampunk events - Circus of Horrors, War of the Worlds, Royal Ascot, to name but a few which show up on the first page here - can't understand why this would cause such offence.
Don't know who the original poster is (apologies if I do but just don't recognise the BG name!) but i didn't see it as an advert, more an enquiry as to whether others here were going. i remember now why i decided not to bother commenting in the Geographical forums any more, seems to be far too much risk of treading on eggshells here.

Are you saying that this post shouldn't be posted on this forum because it's vampire related..or that the steampunks making negative responses about vamps shouldn't be doing so because this doesn't concern 'steampunks'? If it's the former I could ask what are YOU doing here? I know you, Vampyre master..you've been into the Vampire scene for as long as I can remember (and I've been involved in it for nigh on 15 years). If you think vamps and steampunks do not (or should not) be grouped together..why have you joined this forum using the name 'Vampyre Master'? The LVG is open to anyone..whether they are into vampires or not. If we start being picky about who can and can't attend (or rather, who should and who shouldn't attend the parties) we run the risk of alienating a large number. So vamps or no...Steampunks or no..if you're in the London area..Penderel's Oak Saturday 13th 8pm-1am £5 on the door for non-members. Don't be afraid...we don't bite!

I have never advertised a Vampyre event on Brass Goggles and have never promoted the genre as some people find the subject offensive.

Well..there were at least 15-20 members of the LVG in full steampunk gear at Lincoln last September. There is a big goth/vamp steampunk cross over. Just because someone is into one doesn't rule them out of being involved with any other genre. Advertising a party that, although not run by a SP group, but is most likely to include a number of steampunks in attendance or have an interest for some of our fellow steampunks seems perfectly acceptable.
For example, White Mischief are not a steampunk organisation per se but still attract a lot of steampunks to their parties which have the same sort of 'burlesque' style entertainment as the LVG have used in the past.. I've posted ads for White Mischief gigs on here and no one's complained before.

I really wasn't "advertising" anything, it was just that I was considering attending this event, and was simply interested to see if anyone from around here was going to be there as well, seeing as the organisers of the event have been mentioned on other threads in the past.

Well I hope all this bickering here hasn't put you off, we're a lovely friendly lot really! I'm not one of the organisers or anything, just a long-standing regular member. And to confirm, for anyone who may be "offended by the genre" we're not into anything dodgy; just a bunch of friends who like to dress up and socialise - hence the growing popularity of Steampunk amongst our lot. When it comes to crossover interests, personally I get slightly bugged by the fact that Burlesque is increasingly connected with the steampunk scene. However each to his/her own and I like the fact that this forum doesn't (yet) have restrictive rules on how strict the parameters must be. Long may it stay that way! :-)
